OT: Athletes you dislike...?
Given the general grumpiness about Tebow, Izzo, Duke, and any of the other punching bags around this here website, I figured I'd start a thread about athletes you genuinely dislike. You know, the guys you just cant root for...not matter what!
As far as criteria are concerned, have fun ... you don't need to have a reason, and the hatred can be of team, player, or anything about them. All I care about is who really makes your blood boil.
I'll start the thread off with some of my picks:
NBA: Rajon Rondo
NFL: Terrelle Owens
MLB: A.J. Pierzynski
NCAA F: Terelle Pryor
NCAA B: Luke Harangody
Now, I'll sit back in my canoe and let this thread steer itself...
If that wasn't a push at 6 seconds, then Jordan was just feeling Russel's ass! Plus as great as Jordan was, he didn't that many other great players to contend with. He was great, and I do respect him, but I don't like him!
Larry Bird, Isiah Thomas, Dominique Wilkins, Karl Malone, John Stockton, Clyde Drexler, Hakeem Olajuwon, Shaq, Gary Payton, Charles Barkley, Kevin Johnson (among others) feel insulted.
They were all past their prime when Jordan took over!!! That's why they won six championships out of (six)Eight. The two missed were when he decided to play Baseball! Malone, Stockton, Payton, Wilkins, Barkley, Johnson were great players, but didn't win! I should have said great players on great teams! You can feel insulted. If any of them were THAT great, they would have beat the Bulls! Next you'll be telling me that Phil Jackson is the best coach of all time!
dude, jordan owned the league for over a decade. and he won his titles with bill wennington/cartwirght/luc longly at C. and john paxon/BJ armstron at PG. and horace grant at F.
i hate this thread.
You lose.
If you said he had no great TEAMS to face. There were good players. But the Bulls are just one of a number of great teams in the Sixers, Celtics, Lakers and Pistons trading titles in the 80s. In the 90's, you're hard pressed to find any teams with more than 2 great players, which all those previous teams had. His was the only elite team in an NBA transition period, and really the last great team of the League, which expansion diluted. With maybe the Kobe Shaq Lakers being able to hang with those old teams. The rest would all get smoked. Any of those teams of the 80s coming into their prime in the 90s or 00s would have whipped off a bunch of titles.
1. If it wasn't a foul, Utah still had 5 seconds left to win it.
2. If it was an offensive foul, BFD. It was game 6.
I don't understand why one (non) call is your reason for hating. Shouldn't the ref be the one your hate is directed at?
It was game six, and that shot won the championship! Maybe I should have prefaced my argument that I am also a piston fan. Jordan's role in keeping Isaiah Thomas off of the Dream Team didn't help me to like the guy either!
Youklis in the MLB.
Garnett in the NBA.
Ever since Youkilis went after Rick Porcello last year, I haven't been a fan. Of course, that one kinda backfired on him...
Since a soccer players name has not been mentioned, Rafael Marquez.
Sanchez, Blanco and the fans in Azteca. Classless. My hatered for Mexico rivals that of my hatered for OSU.
Curt Schilling. He never shuts up.
Troy Smith. Who remembers that dumb dance he did when he introduced in the 2006 game?
Off the top of my head...
Sidney Crosby
Chris Pronger
Ryan Getzlaf
Corey Perry
Scott Niedermayer
Kobe Bryant
LeBron James
Manu Ginobili
Justin Boren
Terrelle Pryor
William Gholston
Chris Kramer
Brett Favre
Every member of the Colorado Avalanche from 1996-2002, save for Joe Sakic
Terrell Owens
Milton Bradley
Barry Bonds
Maxime Talbot
Petr Klima
William Gholston?
Are you serious? You dislike an 18-year-old high school kid as an athlete?
Did Archie Collins run over your dog or something? My God.
Nothing to do with Archie. And I didn't realize there was an age minimum for this kind of thing. If I could edit my post, I'd remove his name to make you happy.
How can it have nothing to do with Archie? I've read your blog. If not for Archie, Gholston goes elsewhere, according to you.
Don't edit the list, I want it to live on.
Age ain't nothing but a number.
Nadia Comaneci
...is a smart guy, but one who takes recruiting (and sports in general) a little too seriously.
You're kind of a miserable douche bag aren't you? Who puts a 18 year old high school kid on the list just because he didn't pick the school you wanted?
e-pinion man.
The topic was athletes you dislike.
He listed an athlete he didn't like.
No need for juvenile name calling.
Would it make you feel better if OB were 17? Because I think that's the case.
To be that miserable at 17 is even worse.
I always got the impression that TOB was probably in his mid- to late twenties. If not, he has an impressive vocabulary for a 17-year-old.
for TP and justin boren is okay because they are 20 and 21 respectively, but hating on an 18 year old, thats crossing the line
/
Hey man, you joke about 2 years, but try having relations with a 19 year old, then a 17 year old...you'll find out quickly the 2 years matter if they decide to press charges.
Speaking from experience?
Jerry Jones
Lane Kiffin
Mike kzyjdfklajfy
Players:
Kobe
tonya harding
mike tyson (until his hangover cameo)
that has ever played for Ohio State
especially Justin Boren, and Troy Smith
Dave Winfield, for being a Yankee and playing a role in this incident:
I dislike OSU, but definitely not enough to cause a Buckeye to lose most of his sight in one eye. This was one of the ugliest incidents in sports, and rightfully cost Bill Musselman his job.
NBA: Lebron James
MLB: Milton Bradley
NHL: Crosby
NCAA F: F'n tebow
Jeter
Rashad Evans
Anderson Silva
Curt Schiling
Kevin Yukilis
Dustin Pedroia
Sam Bradford
Colt McCoy
Tiger
That is all I can think of right now - I'll update as needed
Edit - also hate Lebron and D-wade.
Edit 2 - also hate Alexi Ramirez, Denard Span, Alexi Casilla and the Shaq-Daddy
Just curious. Or Casilla for that matter?
B. They are small and annoying much like gnats.
C. They are average at best players, but for some reason the sports media has made them out to be future stars.
Casilla is not that good.
Denard Span, however, is rather damn good. Good enough that the Twins let Torii Hunter walk in 2007 because they had Span in tow.
walk because they either trade away or let walk all their high priced talent not named Joe Mauer.
Um, wrong.
Hunter was offered $12 million a year for 4 years, he decided to go on the open market and took $15 million a year instead.
Denard Span darn near matched his production at more than 1/15th the cost last year.
That's called smart business.
And, have you heard of Justin Morneau? Michael Cuddyer? Joe Nathan? Jim Thome? J.J. Hardy? Orlando Hudson?
Just because they make the decision to let some guys go doesn't mean they let ALL of them go.
Span is exactly the type of leadoff hitter I would want on my team. He's an excellent player.
IME Denard Span is more concerned with his mom than with his team.
You don't like him because he was concerned when he hit his own mother with a foul ball?
I'm pretty much a miserable douchebag.
Either that or I described why I didn't like him a few posts above.
try as I might, I just can't picture Denard Span when I think "overhyped".
more concerned about his mom than his team?
Add Kobe Bean Bryant to the list.
Edit 4 - AJ Persinski, Brady Quinn and Troy Smith
Darko Milicic, i dont necessarily hate him but the waste of a pick he was espically with carmelo, d-wade, and bosh going behind him. In football Clausen , Matt Barkley, and Beanie Wells.
Roger Clemens
Rasheed Wallace
Bill Romanowski
Patrick Roy
Al Davis
Matt Millen
Jack Tatum
I've never really hated an athlete outside of Claude Lemieux. Every else just plays well for teams I dislike.
I hate very few athletes. There is only one player that sticks out in my mind as I have never liked the guy, and I probably qualify as hating him.
Julio Lugo
Worst shortstop in recent Houston Astros history. Beat his wife. I could have lived with the former. The latter just sealed his fate in the dislike area.
