Wisconsin purportedly pulls offer of committed 2018 QB because he tweeted UGA offer
UGA is really desperate for QBs this cycle (going after a kid Wisconsin doesn't even want and MSU's commit).
Considering how well they recruited in the last cycle, it's a little weird to see how badly they seem to be floundering this cycle. Last year, the recruiting experts were talking about how amazingly well UGA was recruiting in-state. This year, there were 3 4-star QB's in the state of Georgia for the 2018 class. They missed on all of them. They seem to be missing on other in-state players as well. At this point, Michigan has more Georgia commitments than Georgia does.
I could be wrong about this. Maybe this is all part of some strategy and maybe they really come on late and clean up in-state, but right now their recruiting is looking surprisingly weak.
Or maybe kids from Georgia are actually seeing the light of day. UGA is one of the most overhyped and underachieving programs in college football that has loads of talent throughout their state. Waste of talent down there that stays in state.
it would have done so by now. It's a bit of a mystery why it hasn't. Doubt it has anything to do with this situation.
I've never heard of anyone else having this policy and the player seemed unaware of it too. It all sounds fishy. Let's see if any other of their commits does the same thing. It's a long ways from signing day and that's what kids do.
Yeah this has bullshit written all over it. Like the OP states, it's easy for the recruit to say whatever they want knowing its a violation for the school to respond.
Paul Chryst has spoken at length about how he wants the word "offer" to have a scholarship guaranteed with it. He also has openly said he wanted to take 2 QBs this class. Unless something happened off the field for him to pull it, I'm not buying it. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on this one.
No way they take a huge PR hit over a low ranked QB because of a retweet.
Wiscy cooled on this kid getting a better QB (even if they plan on taking 2). I can't see a school like Wisconsin saying there's no room because you tweeted. Kids tweet their offers all the time. They are high school kids who believe the world revolves around them.
So I am sure that teddy greenstein will be doing a piece on paul's dirty recruiting tactics???
I expect a full media blitz on this and several NCAA rule changes.
Wisconsin and other schools need to chill out. These are immature kids looking for as much attention as they can get, as this kid proved. This is Hoke's policy in turbo mode.
Reminds me of classic scene in Blazing Saddles where Headley shoots the poor dude for chewing gum in line after not having more when asnwering "Did you bring enough for EVERYbody?"
I doubt the tweet is the reason, but they definitely did not want him. I think chryst is a pretty straight up guy so who knows.
As far as Georgia wanting him, I dont get. Wish they would steal back osu or psu QB's as they are both from Georgia.
...this17 year old may not be a great 20 yo qb
