Facility Upgrades

Sounds like it. I hope they renovate the remaining old looking parts in the current Schembechler Hall (that ramp and the weird roof drives me nuts for some reason).

could you vaguely tell us what you do at Michigan? just wondering, because I know you have good info., but I also thought you said Jabrill or Jourdan was suspended when they weren't . (not trying to bring that up to be mean, but are you press? University employee? family friend?) Sorry if already asked.

If anyone needs convincing how important facilities are. Go check out Maryland's recruits. Marylands's new facilities are the reason they are commiting to them.
November 16th, 2016 at 10:02 PM ^
Their top 6 commits are all from MD/DC area. It's not the facilities.

It's pretty evident that Durkin and the commitment from the administration to improve facilities is paying off.

Or Clemson, or Oregon's, or Bama's, etc.
Cost of being an elite program these days.

The biggest factor is probably Durkin himself. He was called the best recruiting assistant in the country a few years back by some service.

I believe Bama still might have the biggest one. Their weight room is 37,000 sq ft. (21,000 on 1st level and 16,000 on second level). But their facility is for all sports and not just football even though it's in the football building.

You said they were going to extend/renovate parts of Schembechler, do you know what that all entails?

necessary evil.
November 17th, 2016 at 10:23 AM ^
I don't see it as an evil. I see it as improving the lives of the athletes that make so much money for the AD and university.

I wonder if they're tearing down Oosterbaan and building the new facility over its location. Oosterbaan's served the team well for many decades and it'd be sad to see it go - but it does seem a little redundant with Glick fieldhouse now.
Does the current team still practice in the old fieldhouse?

Glik was built so the football team could have their own practice space. If Oosterbaan is torn down, then baseball/softball/soccer etc. will move into Glick defeating that purpose.
November 17th, 2016 at 6:26 AM ^
Doesn't softball now have its own building? also a ton of new stuff being built further south including a huge performance center? I'm not sure where this would leave baseball for indoors, but maybe this 'other half' of oosterbaan.

Anything being done to the aethstetics of the outside of Oosterbaan?

Need to bring back urinal troughs in the men's bathrooms. Using those made Michigan fans tough. Pissing in individual urinals is unmanly and weakens the spirit.

It will be called economy comfort plus, and it's more expensive.
(oops. That was in response to rob's request for fancier seats.)
November 17th, 2016 at 9:17 AM ^
I don't care about chair backs, but the seats do need to be widened. When everyone is present and seated, it can be physically uncomfortable for those over six feet tall, or over a certain weight.

Not if you add more rows.
There is room to expand in the endzones. Do that and then you can widen everyone's seats. Given the amount that fans are asked to pay, their physical comfort isn't something to be dismissed.

I wonder if Tom Brady's TB12 Sports therapy Center will be a part of this. I know it was talked about by Harbaugh in February.
