Harbaugh lists freshmen who could see playing time
There was that thread yesterday about Harbaugh saying 10 freshmen could play.
Well, he listed more than 10 when asked by Brandstatter on tonight's Inside Michigan Football radio show. He named-

- Khaleke Hudson
- Quinn Nordin
- Devin Bush
- Josh Uche
- Elysee Mbem-Bosse
- David Long
- Lavert Hill
- Ben Bredeson
- Eddie McDoom
- Nate Johnson

Uche looked like a popsicle stick before getting to campus. If you are playing anywhere in the box you need more weight than he had.

When you say "before getting to campus" when do you mean, exactly? Do you mean a full year ago? Because 17 year olds can put on a lot of beef on one year.
Also, he never looked like a popsicle stick. Drake Harris looks like a popsicle stick. Uche was played between 212-217 his senior season depending on who you ask. That's already bigger than Peppers who will be playing that position and I'm willing to bet he put on some weight since then. I'm not saying he'll start beause I think we all know he won't, but his weight will not be what keeps him from seeing the field, if that's what happens.

yeah, even if hes only 215-220 lbs and not yet at his ideal weight (just as many frosh still must overhaul their bodies) or they dont see him as ready to contribute serious snaps at LB, uche can still play a role.
maybe they like him enough as a pass rusher that theyll assign him a package or two to situationally rush the QB. if hes not yet ready to step in as rotation player at LB but they still want to groom him then mop up duty is a real option. and athletic, instinctive LBs often thrive on special teams.
to the poster questioning his weight - maybe uche wont play this year, but hes not drake harris skinny so that likely wont be the reason.
remember oklahomas 220 lbs LB abusing alabama in that bowl game several years ago? dude mustve had 2-3 sacks and as many hurries - pretty sure he was like 6'0" 220 vs whoever bama had at OT at 6'6" 300

I see Uche as a Von Miller type player. Miller was in the 230s in college, which Uche could be this year, or within a handful of pounds of that. Size will not be the issue.

Also, I remember Ian Gold played at 220 when he was at Michigan. He did just fine.

For Harbaugh, 13 is called a "Baker's Ten"...

of whom they speak? Is he a walk on freshman, can he eventually be a contributor? I love that Harbaugh gives these unkown guys a chance to compete.
