I'm in the basement, just rain at my house in GR as far as I can tell.
Folks are farther north and east so we are listening to radio reports because that's where the storm is now.

In the basement here in Alger Heights. Nothing but rain and a little wind here, but not overly far from where some scary stuff happened in Wyoming (was watching Wood TV when someone described seeing the tornado cross 28th St. at Clyde Park).

Those north of me, take cover, take care, be safe.
Women and children first (only kinda joking).

I just got off the phone with my mom (3 mile and the Beltline) and she said it was as bad as they've seen it in years at least. They are all downstairs.
EDIT: They're all good now though.August 20th, 2016 at 4:21 PM ^

This tornado was all wrapped up in rain but dual pole radar showed low correlation coefficients, which is an indication that debris was lofted by this rain-wrapped twister!

was the May 13,1980 tornado. That tornado went right through Kalamazoo and left a several hundred yard path of destruction.

it's amazing the damage toll wasn't worse. That was an Oklahoma-type storm, and the twister went rIght through the heart of a (relatively) big city's downtown.
The Kalamazoo tornado "only" rated a F3. I'm pretty sure that it has been 40+ years now since the last F4 or worse tornado in Michigan. That would have been March 20, 1976 --- an F4 that hit West Bloomfield. Went through the 15 Mile & Orchard Lake intersection.

Some of my earliest memories are of the Palm Sunday tornado in 1965. My dad always talks of the 1956 tornado that completely obliterated the house he was doing cabinet work on. Today just was a rainy day for me.

There's a line of storms between Mount Pleasant and Lansing but nothing tornadic. May some gusty winds and lightning.

What's left of that system is headed towards us in Metro Detroit, although it looks like it is dissipating somewhat on NWS radar. We should have some rain in the next 30 minutes or so here in Romulus, but one thing that did happen here is that it got quite breezy in the last hour or so.
I was out in Stevensville yesterday and got caught in a hellacious rain around noon. Delayed my trip back to Wayne County at least an hour - didn't feel comfortable driving at all in that.
Hope everyone out on that side of the great state of Michigan is OK.

I was in The Winchester on the east side of GR when the sirens went off. They made us go to their basement but kept serving drinks. Now that's what I call great service.
