OT Sandusky granted additional hearings

Filed under the heading, "Are you fucking kidding me?"... A judge has granted Sandusky's team a hearing in August in an attempt to have his conviction overturned. He's had a few appeals denied already, but apparently that isn't stopping them from trying again. Ridiculous as it sounds, they're going to address several issues at hand, most notably the competency of his trial lawyer. I hope this effort falls flat on its face. i don't understand why this is necessary years later. He's in jail and practically no one wants to see that change

it's the penn state "community" that harbored and enabled a serial child rapist that should be lampooned endlessly, because they still haven't learned their lesson or paid for their crimes

First, there's virtually no chance of success on the ineffective assistance of counsel claim, as others have noted.  He was sufficiently lawyered up, and his biggest legal problem wasn't that he had ineffective counsel.  His biggest legal problem is that he is a child rapist.

So why am I in favor of this?  Because it puts Penn State's atrocities back in the public view, and I don't think that can be overdone.  We joke around about "Never Forget" sometimes on this board and elsewhere.  I do my own damned self.

NEVER.  FUCKING. FORGET.  Fuck Sandusky, fuck Joe Paterno, and fuck every one of their enablers and protectors.

Frustrating as this seems, I am so thankful to live in a country where due process is in the Constitution.  Travel around the world and you will hope that if you are ever on trial it will be in America.

I also want him in protective custody. He knows the REAL dirt and eventually he's gonna talk if he doesn't get taken out first. Even OJ couldn't keep his mouth shut forever.

 

There's one person that knows the true extent of the coverups and cooperation. That's Sandusky and I hope they are willing to make some sort of deal to bring everything public after he exhausts all of his appeals.

Typical legal stuff. Hell get a hearing and be denied at it. And hes slowly working his way up the court levels with his appeals, and will promptly be denied at each one.

honestly if i've no hope of getting acquitted, i would find the most incompetent lawyer out there if that alone is grounds for overturning a verdict
