Actually, Ole Miss seems exactly the type of program the NCAA seems to like to puff their chest out over. They are good, but not great. They have very little historical significance. So, the NCAA can look tough without actually hurting themselves. No way in hell they bring the hammer down on USC, OSU, Bama or the like. Ole Miss, on the other hand, means the big bad NCAA can look tough.

I'm not saying it's absolutely going to happen. I'm just saying I would be worried if I were an Ole Miss supporter. They simply aren't relevant enough to ensure a slap on the wrist.

SEC normal news. No enforcement will happen as everyone is too worried about Harbaugn and satellite camps and working the players too hard over spring break and signing of the stars.

It was mentioned elsewhere in this thread - but it started with Laquon Treadwell, a 5* WR recruit who was all Blue until a late visit to Ole Miss suddenly flipped him. He was then immortalized in the twitterverse by posting a pic of him with several hundred in ca$h and diamond bling. Ever since then Ole Miss has been nailing top 5 classes seemingly out of nowhere

A football player just happened to get an illegal ride from a booster. I'm sure that's all that happened. This is just ridiculous, why else would a booster be driving a recruit around if it wasn't to hand off a payment? On a separate note, For all those bashing the NCAA about enforcement, first let me say I consider much of what they do stupid. That said, it's important for people to understand their limits. The NCAA does not have legal authority to enforce an investigation like the police. College institutions agree to be governed by the NCAA but are responsible for reporting against themselves. When wrong doing is suspected, in agreement with the school in question, the NCAA is allowed to come in and gather as much info as possible, but it is still contingent on what the schools are willing to share within freedom of information act laws.

Somebody said that the football team would not be implicated in this investigation. They also said the football teams current coach would not be involved in anything, if there were violations they would be on the last staff and other sports programs.

Now we see 1. that in fact it is this staff and 2. that most of the violations were on the football team, not others. I think something is about to break in Mssissippi and it wont be good.

Any chance players can get out of their LOI and go elsewhere because of this?

Id sure like to pick up a certain offensive lineman with NO MONY DOWN!!!!!

Absolutely nothing of substance happened to UNC and they fully deserved a beating but they nearly made the playoff this year. Best case scenario Ole Miss loses some scholarships and gets a 1-2 year post-season ban. The NCAA is worthless for doing actual enforcement

but dammit all if you have practice during spring break...

After the Manziel thing, PSU, UNC, Miami, and so on, why should anyone be led to believe the NCAA has any teeth? My guess is they lose a scholarship or two and are put on probabation, whatever that means. Their investigations are a joke since they have no subpeona power and every party involved has an interest in saying nothing.

If they get more then a slap on the hand. SEC makes too much money for the NCAA and they aren't going to come down hard on them.  Probably something like probation and limited on campus visits for a couple of years.

Young man gets thousands from a university and PUTS A PIC on the internet--um, yeah, right. Hackett whines like a sissy about C lemon or somebody paying Gary--yeah, right. Where's the proof? When an AD of a major university with a MEDIOCRE football program cries like that, he better have more backing than his fanboys on MgoBlog, yet Hackett offers nothing more than his whiny bi9tch complaint. Mississippi has a beautiful campus, nice weather, down south, exposure in the SEC--and ALL the players can't go to Alabama, and IMMEDIATE playing time in Big Tim venues--why wouldn't you go there? As for "tradition"--=what does that mean anymore? Mississippi sits in a HOTBED of talent--why couldn't, or rather--SHOULDN'T they be good? Hey Michigan Fans--QUIT CRYING and GET A BETTER TEAM
