This is true. I wonder how engaged he was for the Ohio State game. He always had a smile on his face when they showed him on the sideline. Even when we were getting our asses handed to us.

difficult to look at the dropoff in our D's performance and not see this event as relevant.

Sure, injuries and different types of O, I know.

But gd...the worst thing about the OSU game was the halftime score. It really got me wondering why there was so clearly only half of a gameplan on D.

Regardless, best of luck to the young man, hope we kick his ass forever...and who knows, Gary Moeller returned after Bo thrashed him for a few years. That worked out pretty well...until it didn't.

Go Blue.

Maryland boards acting like they just landed Nick Saban lol. I will enjoy beating Durkin's ass for 4 years before he is fired. As we found out this weekend, everyone runs on Durkin.

Maryland's schedule the next two years includes:

2016: @Penn State, Michigan State, @Michigan, Ohio State, @Nebraska.

Then in 2017 they have: @Texas, @OSU, @Wisconsin, Michigan, @MSU, Penn State.

Even in 2018, they play Texas, @Michigan, @Iowa, MSU and end the season with games against OSU and @PSU.

Not the schedule you want especially if you are rebuilding a team with a terrible offense. He better hire a great offensive coordinator.

Dude. You're on scout premium, no? Go read the posts by Sam and Allen.

For the millionth time, Harbaugh is Gary's recruiter. Mattison is not going anywhere.

Wheatley is Walker's recruiter.

I went from mildly annoyed at Durkin to pretty pissed.   How about showing a little respect to the program that just landed you your first big job.

DC at Michigan == "big job"

DC at Florida (and interim HC) != "big job"

Really? After being DC and interim HC at Florida, you're going to say Michigan was his first "big job"?

Durkin is NOT a Michigan man, by any standard. I appreciated his defenses performance, but I feel that was more Harbaugh instilling an attitude rather than play calling, also the LBs were the weakness of that group. He always wore that stupid adidas hat with the thing block m on the side, only coach to do so. It concerned me, and honestly pissed me off a little.

Maryland can pay any equivalant coach anything near what Michigan can you are crazy. Shit just look at what they paid Edsal and now Durkin to what we paid for Hoke and now Harbaugh. The only way they get him is if they give him an actual coaching position.  I don't give a shit about Durkin leaving, this team is better because of the Head coach and the position coaches. There really wasn't anything special about our defensive scheme the whole year.

It's not that we would actually suffeer a hit to recruiting, it's that Durkin is pulling a pretty dick move by trying to weaken the program that afforded him this opportunity.  The are plenty of recruiting coordinators out there, and he has to pick Partridge.

Of the day, it's Partidges decision to leave. If he gets offered a coaching job, why shouldn't he leave? Sure it's a dick move but im not screaming "fuck durkin" & "I hope he fails as a coach" that's just disgusting tbh. I'm pissed but the overreaction is absurd

"Fuck Durkin" might be excessive, but the guy interviewed the week of the OSU game, put up an extraordinarily shitty gameplan, left after one year, and is now trying to take critical staff members with him.  Perhaps "screw Durkin" would be more appropriate.

Interviewing before the OSU game? The most important one of the year for your team. And then accepting the job before the bowl game? I hope Harbaugh doesn't let him coach the bowl game. Just tell him adios right now.

Don't worry, those programs will lose key coordinators and position coaches too.

Our two biggest rivals both lost their coordinators in the areas that defined those programs - OSU on offense and MSU on defense.  And yet they both were in positon to win the Big Ten and beyond.  Because they did not lose their head coach who sets the tone and hires the replacements.

That's how this works.  That's why the head coach is important and gets paid millions.

It's amazing how much influence one person can have over the mood of an organization, and I trust Harbaugh was in tune enough with his coordinators prior to Saturday to at least sign off on the approach/gameplan. Michigan defenses will not revert to Greg Robinson's days, not as long as Harbaugh is here.

I don't fully understand the vitriol directed at Durkin; the guy got a promotion (in title, but not sure I'd want the MD job!), and it does reflect well on the caliber of coach Harbaugh wants to bring to M. If we hear stories of him ducking out of practice to interview, or shirking his duties before the Game, I might be more inclined to fault him, but I can't imagine he'd be so checked out of this job already; he chose to come back here over A&M, after all.

I know a few have mentioned this, but it really frustrates me that Durkin was deciding on this during the week of The Game.  Even if the interview didn't last that long, you have to know he spent considerable time thinking about his options, talking to his family, etc.

It had to affect the game plan.

And I wonder if Harbaugh is upset about it.  Not that everyone is going to stick around forever, but to me I don't think Durkin handled this correctly.
