How nice is this? An early look at "Hot Seat" coaches with No talk of Michigan!
Now that deserves a pos-bang for all!
I will be keeping an eye on the seasons for PJ Fleck & Rich Rod
Fleck to Iowa or Illinois???
RichRod? Maybe Maryland? Interesting read anyway

I know it sounds out there, but just wait. You heard it here first.

This seems like an odd debate to get into but, who are those top 20 teams? Are Michigan (who finished 8-5) and MSU (who finished 7-6) included? Because technically yes they were top 20 at the time that ND played them. And that was one of Borges' more infamously atrocious gameplans during his time at Michigan.

They won every regular season game they played. How is that luck?

Didn't ND already try to get Urban whatever year they ended up hiring Kelly? OSU to ND is not a step up anymore.

Rich Rod to Iowa.

If one of these Big Ten teams is able to land Dan Mullen, the Big Ten could seriously be on the verge of surpassing the SEC.

I think he's waaaaaaaaay overrated. One good season so far.
August 27th, 2015 at 4:21 PM ^
If he had the same record at Indiana would you be saying the same thing?
August 27th, 2015 at 4:27 PM ^
Top 20 recruiting classes at Indy from day one, like he is in Mississippi, then sure I would.
Speaking of that, I wonder how he's convincing all of those great athletes to suddenly consider a program like Miss State?
August 27th, 2015 at 4:35 PM ^
I think you're confusing him with Hugh Freeze.
He's never had a recruiting class in the top 20 (at least according to Rivals) in fact, he has never had a recruiting class in the top 10 of the SEC until 2015, when they were ranked... 9th in the SEC.
August 27th, 2015 at 4:38 PM ^
had his first class at #19 and his second at #18. Which is pretty damn great for a team that never wins anything.
There's an NCAA violations time-bomb waiting to go off down there.
August 27th, 2015 at 4:45 PM ^
Okay but like I said, never a top 10 in the SEC, which means that almost every team he played against in conference had more talent than he did. Also he never oversigned (apparently, anyway) which was an extra hurdle.

It's nice to dream about, but in the end a MAC coach is getting the job.

Del Rio is probably their next coach...or someone considered a "splash" hire. Especially with Mora being somewhat successful just down the road.
I think he stays at Arizona, he's got no reason to leave...the Pac 12 is the 2nd best conference in the country. UF just got a new coach, FSU just won a national championship. I suppose he'd be mentioned for a Miami job, but that really doesn't make sense for him if he remains successful.
If he flames out...he'd be a steal at UCF or USF, IMO, he'd turn either into a Boise/TCU type. And they'd be in the ACC or Big XII after his success.

"he's got no reason to leave"
Dude, he's at the bottom rung of the Pac-12. I'm surprised to see people think RR no longer has any ambition to win an NC, or even getting conference championships fairly often. I'm not saying he will. Who knows what will happen, but I'd be very surprised if RR is happy long-term where he's at. Seems like Arizona is a step down from even WVU, at least when they were in the Big East with RR.

If Illinois, Purdue, etc. would stop hiring middle-of-the-pack MAC coaches that would be nice for the conference.
August 27th, 2015 at 4:41 PM ^
We literally just did that in 2011.

It would be something if Bobby Stoops returned to his alma mater.

I doubt he'd throw that all away to go somewhere where the pressure and expectations are considerably higher and risk another career disaster.
