I was able to fit right in with my wife's family who played pinochle because I knew how to play euchre. The games are similar enough that I didn't need much explanation.
It's not the 1950's where we go to the Soda Pop Stand. When I moved to Michigan I didn't even know what people meant by 'Pop' since I had never heard it before in my life. Still sounds silly 10 years later.

Soda sounds more old school to me, as in scotch and soda. I mentally see someone getting watah from the seltzah man when someone starts talking about soda. Nothing wrong with that but I ain't from New York and seems an affectation when I hear fellow midwesterners use it.
I don't know where Red's evil twin grew up, but count me as part of the faded red in Chicagoland.
