Recruits. We would be only one of 5 schools in the country (the only one in the big ten) to be able to wear Jordan for men's bball and one of three for women's.

If you were to survey 15-22 year olds about what shoes they dig the most it would by far be Jordan brand. And from personal experience taking care of high school, collegiate bball and football, and one year of NFL athletes, Jordan brand is by far the most worn sneaker.

Off topic from this but did anybody see Jay's tweet about something regarding a top 8 being announced at 12-ish today?

I know we've discussed the uniform stuff ad nauseum, but just to clarify:

  • Quality and "style" aside, one of the things I'm hoping to see is the return to the true old school "maize" color we used to have as opposed to the highlighter yellow.

  • That being said, isn't the whole "Nike trademarked the color 'maize'" just an urban myth?  I seem to remember hearing that Nike owned at least the name (and possibly the acutal color), and then people shot that down as mere urban myth.

  • To back-up issue #2, I also seem to remember that the move to highlighter yellow actually occurred during the final year or two of the old Nike deal, and it was NOT in conjunction with the Adidas deal.

Bottom line is that my understanding is that nothing was stopping Adidas from designing traditional "maize" color uniforms but just didn't, and that Nike actually moved to the highlighter yellow before their old contract ended.  If so, was it just the Michigan Athletic Department that was giving out the marching orders for the highlighter yellow?  And if so, do we know for a fact that it'll be switching back to the more traditional "maize"?

Not that I enjoy pissing in anyone's Cheerios, but it won't be a uniform manufacturer that will make Michigan great again.

You may go back to your celebrations now.

I would like to add that I truly feel sorry for the people who have been pushing for the Under Armour brand on this site. They are probably retreating to their bunkers until the Nike contract is up for renewal.
