Rudock talks move to Michigan and more
The QB I wonder about is Wilton Speight. He seems like the odd man out in this whole rotation. There is a lot of QB competition to come in his remaining years of eligibility.
I'd expect Speight to be one of the rumored transfers. The fact the he got zero reps during the spring game doesn't seem to bode well for his opportunities here, but I wish him the best whatever happens. I think Rudock has the best chance to start, he obviously has the best track record but it will come down to whoever performs the best in fall camp. Gentry and Malzone will get opportunities to compete as well. Yeah the freshman will probably redshirt but whoever starts will have earned the position. Harbaugh!
He was injured.
for the spring game and that's why he didn't have any reps. I like him and with the Harbaugh staff coaching him now, he could be the dark horse in the backup QB race.

I wasn't aware that he was already on campus and that makes a huge difference in his ability to "mesh" as he said plus you can tell he's focused on it from the interview. Depending on how good the running game is his high percentage low mistake style may be just what the team needs.
Unfortunately until I see a good running game, I'm still holding out hope that plan A, Morris and a vertical passing game, works out.
Of course both these guys will probably have to start some games this year and any combination of Rudock / Morris is 100x better than Morris / Speight.
osu = playskool...you musta deleted the skool
a game manager may very well be able to win a lot of games. More than a turnover machine. (I'm not calling Morris that.)
Guy has that *it* factor. I have no horse in the raise of starting QB, but awfullly glad Rudock is on the team. And i do think he'll start vs Utah.
also, it just occurred to me that if Shane thinks he's got the starting QB job this fall he probably isn't one of the the rumored transfer guys.
And if Rudock's classes don't start till the fall I'd imagine he's putting the work in, being that he appears to be staying in Ann Arbor.

Under 2 different OCs, as the "second" string (less reps with starters), on a team that was quickly coming apart at the seams?
Morris might be such a bad QB that he doesn't deserve to throw a chew toy to Jake Rudock's dog.........badum cha
but to say he's gotten much of a "chance" is silly.
He'll get a true chance in August and if he doesn't start at Utah than he truly blew it.
was picked off by Peppers' dog! Couldn't resist...I'm pulling for Shane to have a breakout year, but glad we have other options. I loved Gentry's film too, so we can haz QB competence under Harbaugh, for sure.
I truly look forward to the quarterback competition this fall. I will bet Shane is going to do well.

Those dumping on Morris are forgetting the fact that Michigan had its 2 worst offensive lines the last 2 years. I fully expect our Line to improve by leaps and bounds because we not only return basically everyone, but because i have MUCH more faith in the OL coach improving everyone by a decent margin.
I have total faith that Shane Morris will look much better this year not only because he will himself improve, but the line will give him much more time to set and go through progressions. Having confidence in your OL is so important - he will not be panicking each time he sets.

Anyone who watched college football knows deep down within themselves that Jake Rudock is a much much much better option at QB for us than Shane or anyone else that we have for that matter - apart from Gentry - whom we have yet to see.
Rudock obviously has the experience and the IQ to perform best at QB as opposed to Shane. Anyone else who thinks otherwise is frankly delusional.
That being said, I would still love for nothing more than for Shane to explode over the summer into a game manager and signal caller and to win the job.
As of now, however, it is very clear Rudock is the #1 by FAR.
I also heard a tidbit the other day that Shane believe that the guys look up to him during practive etc. Perhaps this is a reason why we have the problems that we do - would rather have the guys be looking up to someone who is confident/seated in their own ability but not overtly cocky or arrogant about it. Confidince and unbridled arrogance are tywo very different things.
JH is going to want to get some 2nd string guys some action & experience in late 2nd halfs also - if we take care of biz against teams we are supposed to ...early in the game.
Hoke never did that ...
