Shane Morris: "not going to let (Rudock) take my job"
Interesting quote from him at the A4 camp today.
Shane Morris says he sees U-M starting QB job as his to lose. Says he knows Jake Rudock came to take his job, "but I'm not going to let him"

It's not your job at this point, and it really never has been. There has not been one moment in your time here so far that you've shown you deserve to start at quarteback for Michigan. If you expect to be the real starter, and not just the default starter because of injury and a thin depth chart, you have a LOT of improving to do. Don't make the mistake of assuming that you can just keep doing what you've been doing and slide into the job.
It shows a strong competitive fire we need at the QB position. I've felt that many years here, there just hasn't been enough true competition at the quarterback position. And sometimes, it's been the case where someone has been "anointed" as the starter which resulted in sub-par performances. Harbaugh will not let that happen. And I think that's just one of the many huge upgrades we will see with him as coach.
However as a fellow DLS Pilot lets go Shane.

My predictions:
1. Ruddock
2. Morris
3. Malzone

Rudock

Competition is good here, and hopefully the best QB wins out. But this team has issues well beyond QB on offense, and I'm not sure any option at the position is the difference between greatness and struggling this year.

I just saw this over at another site comparing Shane in HS to Ruddock:
Shane Morris: 17 tds 8 ints 1340 yards 49% completion 79.34 QB rating
Jake Rudock: 70 tds 8 ints 3729 yards 65% completion 183.59 QB rating
Wow talk about over-freakin-rated.

If it wasn't Flannigan Jimmy don't care.
I will once your mom finishes.
Yes he did. Took awhile for him to regain weight and strength if I recall.
I love Shane and hope he proves all his naysayers wrong. Having said that, I am so glad he's not just the presumptive starter by default because there's no one else other than freshmen to battle for the starting spot (and that would go for anybody at QB, not just Shane). It really is nice to have some competition at the QB position for a change. What has it been, six years now since there was any true competition for starter at QB? And then, even if the starter turns out to be really good, the team is screwed if he gets injured or is ineligible for any reason.
and I'm glad there is QB competition. Win - win.

I think if it is close Rudock will start just do to his past experience but if he does not perform on the field at times I could see Morris stepping in. Though, Morris has the skills to be the cream that rises to the top and take the job this fall!
Well he didn't come to Michigan University to play skool.
I wonder what you'd expect him to say if you think it's a lock that Rudock will start.
"You know it's cool working with the ones right now, can't wait for Jake to come in and right the ship though. Just don't want our guys getting too confused because I'm a lefty. I mean we all know Borges can't recruit any QBs that amount to anything. But ahhhh had fun at this passing academy today though, so I got that going for me. You guys see my sweet beard? It's cool right."
Good for him to have the mentality of the Week 1 starter, kid has a rifle and some wheels. Best of luck to him.
I love the attitude. He is definitely being pushed and sees what is happening.
The same thing with Rudock. He wants to prove himself once again and earn the job.
Both of these guys want the job, and will have to do everything Harbaugh demands to get the nod.
The big thing some are missing is the winner of the job will have earned the nod from Harbaugh. That is no small feat.
Because of that , the winner will be prepared and able to meet the demands of Harbaugh.
That should make us happy.
Malzone will.
