Top/bottom 20 rated Michigan recruits
The modern recruiting rankings era began in 2002 with Rivals and Scout.
Despite not having their own rankings system until 2010, 247sports went back and did composite rankings for classes and players pre-2010 for the days when there were just two services going at it in the ratings game.
This post is part-informative and part-trial for me as this is the first time I'm attempting to upload & show something directly from my SuperGuide.
I have compiled every composite rating of every Michigan recruit since 2002. For the complete document directly from the Recruiting History Book, I have uploaded a sorted version from highest to lowest rating (similar to the list belong but it is 10 pages long) and another document that goes by year. You can check those out here: Sorted | Yearly
Here are the top-20 recruits using the 247sports Composite formula which averages all recruiting service rankings together.

Nice peek at the Super Guide, can't wait for the digital version, hopefully as an app for our phones.
Fuck Justin Boren!
Isn't WD studying something related to computers and graphic design? Opportunity to get started on a senior project real early.
Stop saying those things, I still like digital info for free. Are you signing up to be WD's agent/manager or what?
Put the keys down, quit drinking and go to bed.
His potential went up in smoke.
I thought I recalled him as being very highly ranked in a consensus way. Guess he didn't make the top 20.
Of course, there were ratings back then. I think he was a consensus 5*.
KG was not a smoker.
WD since you somewhat included Boren, why not have Ty Issac, or was he not that high in the rankings?
Oh yeah, fuck Justin Boren again.
He signed with USC out of HS so he isn't considered part of the 2013 recruiting class in the eyes of the recruiting services. Michigan's ranking would have gone up if it did since he was a 5 star recruit.
I have a completely different document called Transfer Rankings to reflect this.
Same thing with Boren. Unfortunately, he counts as part of the 2006 class.
Out of curiousity, where did Justin Turner fall on this list? I thought for sure he'd be a top 20. I know Rivals had him as a 5 star (35th overall, I think) and Scout had him as a top 30 overall player.

Come on, man. Harbaugh's an awesome coach and I'm not worried about the low stars, but some players from this class won't even come close to making an impact on the field. Because that's how it goes for any recruiting class for any school, even Alabama.
Good work, WD - this is interesting stuff.
There are some busts on the top list and some diamonds in the rough like David Harris but the top is much better than the bottom. If you have too many 2 or 3 star guys you're not going to be as good as if you have 4 or 5 star guys wanted by everyone in the country like the top list. I'm sorry but it's true.
Mr. Sunshine.
As for you, WD, for all the shit we give you about your SuperGuides, even if just in fun, I have to call myself impressed. Are you going to continue releasing bits of it to us from time to time like you did here?
Son, I don't know who is more insane, you or Jim Harbaugh.
But as long as it's for the good of Michigan, I don't care in either case.
I'd say there is only one diamond in that rough, David Harris. Even the other ones that played weren't all that good, certainly not difference makers. It's fine to have those guys on the team but hopefully this class has more David Harris' and less Marquese Walton.
Mark Huyge was very good but the rest were glue guys at best.
Also in the NFL so yeah, he is not a glue guy.
Yeah, but you know, he didn't adapt that well to the Hoke/Borges version of MANBALL, so clearly he was a bust....

composed of guys wanted by everyone in the country.
We're going to have a mix, especially in this large class with a staff starting from behind. I know TMG and a few others prefer to bitch, but we should consider ourselves fortunate that we have coaches qualified to find players everyone else should have wanted. They don't have to hit on every one to build a great class.
I have a lot more confidence in Harbaugh and staff selecting 2 and 3 stars over that of Hoke & CO. My guess even over Carr & CO.
We are this year!
The stunning 1998 class, after our NC, had the #1 player. Even more incredible, we had the #1 or #2 player in the country at each position for something like 5 different positions.
Lloyd in his prime was a machine.
BTW, the way most of these players were recruited back then was via their performance at Michigan camps.
#YESTHEREWASLIFEBEFORERIVALS
could not win another NC in the 2000-2003 time period with all the talent! If I recall correctly the 2001 season was quite disappointing with 4 losses.
They did beat SEC champion Alabama in the Orange bowl with some of those players.
