Well that could be the end of an era, if Babcock moves on.

I watch these Red Wing teams, and they are decent but I guess Im spoiled because I really miss the dominant Scotty Bowman teams.

Yeah, the roster needs some work.  Defense corps is bad, there are some scorers but no one really punishing to play against in the playoffs.  Abdelkader is the closest but isn't a great offensive player yet and after him the next most physical guy who's a threat to score is... Datsyuk.  Desperately need a power forward.

Since the officiating always lets more physical stuff go, the Wings' plan of speedy little guys start struggling.  And Zetterberg, god bless him, is showing serious signs of aging.

Not washed up, but they're definitely not getting younger. Hank is 34 and Pavel 36. Both are definitely getting closer to retirement, but they still have a few more years of good hockey. Pavel's advantage will be his elite finesse. Hank is more balanced than Pavel, but he definitely isn't as quick as he used to be.

That was ... disappointing.  Which is kind of close to what I said when they got the empty-netter.

How much longer to the opening kickoff, and who do I pull for now for the Cup?

As a pretty young guy, being an all around Michigan sports fan is frustrating when you can't see your team go all the way. That is with the exception of the Wings' last Stanley Cup. Too bad I was young and didn't care at that time...

Babcock isn't a bad coach and he hasn't been awful or anything but have we even gotten to the third round since 09? Time for a change. If firing him winds up coming back to haunt us then oh well. I don't see us going anywhere with him anymore.
