"Hurry Up" Jim Harbaugh
The last head football coach at Michigan, who came from Stanford via San Jose was Fielding H. YOST. He stayed long enough to be a Champion, a Football Legend, and have a building named after him. His innovations (the spiraling forward pass, etc.) changed the game forever.
What would it take for Jim Harbaugh to be great?

Done at least half of his massive, multi-million dollar contract to The Human Fund. "Money for People" is always a worthwhile cause. People need money...

But San Jose State is less than 10 miles from Levi's Stadium. And they're both in metro San Jose.

As michelin said, the San Francisco 49ers play in Santa Clara, CA, which is in the San Jose metro area and less than 10 miles from the San Jose State campus. Yost was from West Virginia and when Stanford passed a rule that their football coach had to be a Stanford grad, he coached San Jose State, until Michigan hired him.
