Fake punt was money. Too bad for the penalty.

The paperback version of the Bo biography had an "afterward" in which Bo talked about this game. He heard one of the refs in the locker room laughing and saying, "There's no way I was gonna let that son of a bitch win his last game here."
I have seen one worse bullshit call in the history of sports: the one that robbed Armando Galarraga of a perfect game. At least one of them was an honest mistake...

Better keep watching to find out.
If you're drunk, that is.

Home game for USC. And with biased refs.
Hope JH is watching this and getting more and more pissed to coach in these types of games and dominate.

Probably should have hired Harbaugh away from the NFL to coach up our throwing game.

Junior Seau got the sack on Bo's team's last offensive play. Interesting.

Missed the Reed City sign. Probably because I was blinded by our satin reflective lemony banana pants. Holy shit are those terrible.

Whether it was heart attacks or injuries or corrupt/incompetent refs, he got the shit end of the stick almost every fucking time.
December 24th, 2014 at 3:52 AM ^
1. heart attack in his first rose bowl
2. charles white TD when he clearly fumbled at the 2 yd line
3. holding on the fake punt in his last game
that's just a start

Friend of mine played against Tony Boles at Westland John Glenn (same school Lloyd coached) and said he was absolutely ridiculous. Could cut and avoid defenders like a water bug.
Had a good career at UM but it's sad to hear how he turned out. Very, very sad.

but i remember a trombone player taking out his knee in the back of the endzone effectively ending his career. very sad.

My favorite Michigan RB of all time. He ran "digitally", like in a Frogger video. One moment he was in a lane, the next moment he was in a different lane, next moment he was in yet a different lane, with no obvious cut and no loss of speed.

although since it was so horrible, it's not as 'cool' as we all would like.
greg robinson (YTGR) is a long-time friend and his brother and i were at that game. greg was the OC that year for the bruins and he got us on the ucla sidelines for the michigan v. ucla game in the rose bowl earlier that year. talk about having a tough time being a 'gracious' guest on the sideline as i was trying to calmly root for michigan amidst all of the players.
anyway, early on in the rose bowl game greg's brother points out that particular referee who ended up throwing that b.s. flag and says, 'see that guy there? he is a total USC suck-ass. he will find a way to screw michigan at some point during this game'. lo and behold, within a couple of hours that proved to be prophetic.

I never understood why the hell they picked the Rose Bowl to be the destination of such a prestigious bowl game between the B10 and Pac12. Like how much homer can you get with that stadium location.
What a joke.

For those who missed it on ESPN Classic and have never seen it before...yeah, that holding call on the fake punt...
December 24th, 2014 at 11:03 AM ^
The play is at 1:56:14 for those interested. The penalty apparently was called on one guy in the interior line whose block is incidental to the play. A joke.

friend of mine, now on this blog, happened to be in Indiana years ago listening to sports talk radio, and the ref in question called in to say, basically, that he threw that flag to screw Bo

I was in my junior year at the Air Force Academy and on the swim team, we had our Christmas training trip to So Cal that season and I got tickets to the game through my dad as an alum. It was such a sureal experience, but couldn't stand watching him lose that game...the infamous clipboard thorwing incident.

When his protege, Jim Harbaugh, comes home to Michigan and starts tearing it up in college football, he'll get his revenge.
