I like that plan.

Mike Jones and Brandin Hawthorne were both early enrollees and SLBs this year and have been in the system for a year. With our secondary issues and MRob's plan to be an EE start him at a dire position of need.

actual scholarship recruits playing out there as well, versus walk-ons. It will be nice to start getting a solid foundation of players on the two deep.

I really like are chances on defense next year, assuuming richrod doesn't red-shirt any in coming freshmen. I think are down fall this year was the fact that we have a lot of talent that could play but RR decided to redshirt those guys

I think all talent that could conceivably play did. Many of the "freshman talent" didn't early enroll, and Turner got here too late to contribute. RR played Campbell, Denard, Tate, Smith, and a whole host of others that you would ideally RS their first year.

This is more like it.
I didn't like the talk about him playing SAM. He's got ball skills, and playing SAM wouldn't really allow him to use that strength. He's fast enough and savvy enough to play a deep half or a deep third when necessary, but physical enough to play at the line of scrimmage.
Hooray for using personnel appropriately!

We agreed on this earlier, but I want to reiterate that putting Robinson at safety seems like the best plan to me. We have other guys who can play the SAM position, but not exactly a surfeit of talent at safety.

" 'Coach Rich Rodriguez and Coach [Greg] Robinson were talking to me and they were basically telling me they want to start me off at free safety,' Robinson said. 'They said it depends on what team we are playing, they might move me down in the box or keep me at free safety.' "
Sounds like he'll play the weak side safety that often plays down on the weak side edge or overhang. Me likey.

I hope MRob spends his entire career at FS/SS whatever you want to call it in this defense. He will be a moose of a hitter and will finally put some fear into the heads of the oppositions' receivers.

I think this is a good fit, given our depth of young LB's. Also, Witty sounds like he is all set to enroll. More depth in the defensive backfield.

His ESPN scouting report (thoe are actually not awful, dont know why they dont translate to rankings) talked about his ability to rea plays well and his ability to recoginize when to stay in coverage. Yipee.
