Time to rev up that flight tracker. 3rd time in 7 years. How surreal is that...?
December 2nd, 2014 at 10:15 AM ^
The timing of San Francisco starting to distance itself, the lack of Michigan denial by Harbaugh, the tight lips from media about Michigan to Harbaugh, and the timing of the Hoke firing all seem to be aligning for an awesome hire. A bit optimistic?.....yes, but one can hope.
December 2nd, 2014 at 10:27 AM ^
but I think it'll be Miles, not Harbaugh
December 2nd, 2014 at 9:32 AM ^
Sooner the better... Definitely going to get a lot accomplished in the office today.

Bets on when the blog will crash today?
December 2nd, 2014 at 9:45 AM ^
The firing is a given. I'm sure it will rev up the Mgoblog crowd here but the site won't crash until a coach signing.
December 2nd, 2014 at 9:49 AM ^
If Hoke is retained yes.
December 2nd, 2014 at 9:54 AM ^
I just can't shake the feelilng that he's going to be retained. I hope I'm wrong.

have the odds for what time the MGOBLOG "what are you drinking" thread pops up? Or will that only be when the new coach is hired?
December 2nd, 2014 at 10:02 AM ^
It will be 6:45 for me. Basketball on tonight, off tomorrow and I have been saving some Chimay for a day like today.

MOAR hotdog water.
December 2nd, 2014 at 9:43 AM ^
Okay, It's probably happening...
December 2nd, 2014 at 9:33 AM ^
I believe Hoke meets with the team at 3:00. I bet we don't hear anything until then.
December 2nd, 2014 at 9:36 AM ^
I bet we won't hear anything officially official until then, but there will probably be speculation/leakage before then.
December 2nd, 2014 at 9:37 AM ^
mmmmmmm leakage
December 2nd, 2014 at 9:46 AM ^
MgoDads here certainly appreciate that.
December 2nd, 2014 at 9:41 AM ^
Though I would really like to avoid a situation like what happened at Nebraska where players lashed out partly because they heard the info second hand
December 2nd, 2014 at 9:50 AM ^
Every sportswriter covering it will know before it is made official to the players. And everyone who knows will tweet it.
December 2nd, 2014 at 10:05 AM ^
December 2nd, 2014 at 10:23 AM ^
I know we've been slow in giving out information, but I doubt the AD would let the reporters hound the complex for hours trying to get word from players heading to the meeting.
December 2nd, 2014 at 9:36 AM ^
...at the Schembechler Corral.
Will Brady hack it? Or will Hackett lower the hatchet?
December 2nd, 2014 at 9:53 AM ^
to this. I was thinking the exact same thing. Makes me want to watch Tombstone
December 2nd, 2014 at 9:36 AM ^
is playing out perfectly....
This should be an entertaining afternoon!
3pm team meeting, then I'm hoping for a 7:00 news conference to announce the new coach, riiiiight before tip off with Cuse, FinalFour rematch!!!
December 2nd, 2014 at 9:38 AM ^
Am I the only one who doesn't want it leaked early? I mean, I don't think the staff and players should find out from twitter that their coach/boss/employer is fired. I think we can wait the 3 or 4 extra hours.

FWIW I've been in Hoke's shoes before - knowing you're about to get fired and just killing the hours until it happens. It's about the worst feeling in the world cause no matter how you spin it - deep down you know YOU failed and that's a hard pill to swallow. If you've ever been let go for poor performance (and my case was somewhat like Hoke's - I was over my head in a job too big for me) it's doubly hard cause you know you HAD what you wanted and lost it.
While I'm happy for the program if the change is made there's a big part of me that feels bad for Hoke the man. He's having one hell of a shitty morning and prolly didnt sleep well last night either.
December 2nd, 2014 at 9:44 AM ^
Excellent perspective. I haven't personally been in that position, but you did a great job of relaying what it's probably like. I feel somewhat bad for Hoke, and hope he lands on his feet. He is getting a lot of money as a golden parachute, so it's hard to feel too bad.
December 2nd, 2014 at 9:45 AM ^
Not to sound like I lack sympathy for Brady, but he did get to live his dream. It didn't end well and I get that, but how many people don't get that experience at all?
December 2nd, 2014 at 9:47 AM ^
Very true. The part that I feel crappy for him about is that he will no longer have daily contact with his "115 sons" and I do really believe he views them that way. I also think the players love him. Ultimately though, it is about more than just graduating players.
December 2nd, 2014 at 10:16 AM ^
So you're saying it's better to have lived your dream and lost than to never have lived your dream at all?
December 2nd, 2014 at 10:38 AM ^
Let me spend one night with Jessica Alba and I'll get back to you about your hypothesis.
December 2nd, 2014 at 9:46 AM ^
I was wondering how you'd respond to this --> I was prepared to talk shit when you started grave dancing. Celebrate a coach that can put us back at expectations, some people thought it would be Rich Rod, more thought it would be Brady Hoke. Here's hoping we find our guy this time.
December 2nd, 2014 at 10:03 AM ^
There was very much doubt, only hope, around here about Brady Hoke when he was hired. His support didn't come until the 11-2 miracle first year
December 2nd, 2014 at 9:52 AM ^
I agree with your sentiments entirely. I would imagine though that in Hoke's case that the millions he has presumably socked away will help cushion the blow somewhat.

the relief he will feel after today. i suggest using some of that buy out money for a nice long vacation somewhere warm and pleasant.
December 2nd, 2014 at 10:57 AM ^
Don't feel bad. Some people just aren't cut out for Chippendale's.
December 2nd, 2014 at 9:44 AM ^
I don't think he will, and I don't want him to. However...what if Hackett does the unexpected and retains Brady? I think it would do tremendous damage to the program, and I would be both angry and confused. I would like to know that there is NO chance of it happening. There is no chance, right? RIGHT?
December 2nd, 2014 at 9:52 AM ^
why would he schedule a meeting just to tell him he isn't being fired, especially considering the timing? If he were going to be retained he would have been informed a couple weeks ago.
December 2nd, 2014 at 10:38 AM ^
I always have a meeting with my boss to discuss my annual review. I haven't been fired at one of those meetings yet. And the boss can't finish the annual review until after the year is over.
