CC: Sam Webb sees change coming
Nothing revolutionary but I thought it was worth pointing out that Sam Webb doesn't "see a scenario" in which Hackett doesn't make a change at the end of the season:

EDIT: quotes for those who don't want to load the video:
Yeah, I think that this loss, just...really undercut Brady. I think it undercut the retention chances that he had. ...
I just don't see a scenario at this point with this loss where Jim Hackett looks at it and says he's gonna not make a change. ...
That's not based on anything I've been told... I think this game kinda, I think it does him in.

Belichick: "I would like to coach the Wovlerines."
Hackett: "How much can you bench?"

Then, you ruin it with one of the most asinine assertions that I have ever read on this blog - that physical characteristics and personal appearance have a correlation upon competence and coaching ability. How about Bill Belichick, Woody Hayes, Bo Schembechler, Les Miles, Chuck Noll, and John Robinson, not exactly chippendale models, but all excellent coaches. Physical appearance may have a bearing on whether or not you can be a supermodel, but it has little to do with coaching ability.

Anyone with a Scout subscription should give that shit up after this past month. What a joke of an operation.

For the past few years, figuing out the dynamics in Washington has been an element of my job. And the thing that I learned was that you can't take the assertions from leadership of what's going to happen as a good prediction. It's a combination of biased, limited viewpoints plus aspirations plus advocating.
I wonder if Sam's access to "insiders" in the Athletic Department meant that he took them too seriously. These guys weren't seeing the whole picture, but because they were "insiders" were given more credence than was warranted. In some respect, it never mattered because they were all statements about current conditions combined with speculation of what would happen were certain events to occur.
Even now, we're just speculating, but of course we have more information. We know the guy who hired him is gone, and we know that this season has already turned out worse than the previous one (which was worse than the previous one, which was ...)
For my own part I thought it was interesting what Sam was saying, but I never thought it was a good analysis of what was happening. I thought instead that he was inadvertently reporting of how muddled the Athletic Department was.
