James Hackett to be Interim AD
James Hackett is a former player and CEO of Steelcase. While this sound exactly like the DB situation, remember it's only interim and Michigan will be searching for a proper AD.
angelique chengelis reports James Hackett, who played for Bo and was CEO at Steelcase, will be interim AD.

he's an INTERIM AD you jacka$$es!!. Relax already. You bring in someone from the outside to lead rather than name someone on the inside only to demote them later and possibly ruffle feathers of co-workers along the way.

I'm going to relax until I see any actual signs of cronyism* here. For all we know Schlissel has someone all but in the bag, but it's not someone who can just drop everything and come over yesterday, and a stopgap is needed in the meantime. And perhaps Brandon's resignation this soon wasn't entirely expected; last I knew it sounded like he was going down swinging.
*Cronyism isn't the exact right word as I'm sure Schlissel has no connection to Hackett, but you know what I mean. Keeping it in the family over seeking the best, is more what I mean.

It is a little ironic that DB, who is on the board of Herman Miller (Steelcase's biggest competitor) was replaced by James Hackett, who is still on the board of Steelcase. Another win for Steelcase over Herman Miller.

another Michigan Man, but don't Long, Manuel and Bates all have Michigan ties? They just didn't play for Bo and of course they have AD experience. Anyway, I don't know a ton about Steelcase but I'm from Grand Rapids and have always looked upon Steelcase very highly, including their leadership.

An that is what makes all the difference.
That they brought on yet another CEO, even if only on an interim basis, is just mind boggling.

Any truth to the rumor he wants to take out the bleachers and put in office chairs? Capacity would go down, but we could all spin around.

In the interview he said DB gave him his resignation Wednesday. All of the presser sounded good, "excellence is a priority"
I'm not at all concerned about an interim. Someone has to sign checks and put out fires for a few weeks. I just wonder if the shredders have run constantly since Wednesday.

Hackett took a moribund and stuck in its ways company and transformed it into something that utlized the best in design and technology, and recognized the ways of the past weren't the ways of the future. He's made tough calls and Steelcase did very well under him. We could do a whole lot worse for an *interim* AD. He's a perfect seatwarmer.
