Denard to start?

Submitted by uniqenam on
It's behind a paywall and I have to go to school so I don't have time to link, but there are rumblings from some of the "knowledgeable" posters on Scout that are saying Denard will start/see a much greater roll Saturday. This corroborates well with what we've read from Tate's Facebook yesterday.

I don't see the harm with starting Denard. It's not like Tate is lighting the world on fire and I'd like to see what we have in Denard Robinson going into the future. Like has been said many times in this blog, if any of our QBs figure out how to run the read option correctly with good ball fakes, they'll be the clear cut starter. Maybe Denard's "light bulb" has lit up this week in practice and the coaches would like to see how he handles a start. Or....could just be a stupid internet rumor started by Forcier making a bad joke on Facebook.

What ever gives us the best chance of winning. IF this is infact true there is a reason behind it. The coaches wouldn't be doing this just to appease Denard to stay around. If more Denard in the mix gives us the edge, lets do it. We can all stop freaking out

Maybe RR figures that it is highly unlikely we get another win, so lets get Denard some more experience and start working towards next year. Or he is trying to fake out the sweater-vest. A miracle victory over OSU goes a long way towards making it a happy 6-6 offseason. I don't see how we do it, but in that game, miracles happen.

the rumors are strong on this one: We WILL wear white pants on Saturday. See, I know a guy, who knows a guy, who saw "Oceans 11." And in that movie, both George Clooney (as Danny Ocean) and Andy Garcia (as Terry Benedict) said, and I quote, "I know a guy..." So you had better believe it.

Or maybe the coaches looked at the record and realized we just lost the last 5 games with Tate as our starting QB and decided to try something different. Listen, I like anyone loved the early success of both Tate and the team but let's be honest, teams have figured both of them out and maybe the coaches are trying something new. Like some posters above have stated, I am sure Tate will get a lot of snaps but maybe Denard had a good week in practice and the coaches decided to give him the ball first. Not a big deal really unless Denard throws a pick 6 on his first attempt.

Rich (thinking to self): Man, we need this 6th win so badly. I'm gonna throw Wisconsin every curve ball imaginable. Even if it gives us a 1% advantage, that may be enough. Rich (to Tate): Hey Tate, you got one of them Book Face things? I'll bet ya do, everyone has one of them, right?. Go on there and be like, "Aw, shucks, I lost my starting job," then delete it lickity split! Tate: Oh Coach, you sly dog, you! You ole snake-in-the-grass, you! We're gonna dong-punch the Badgers even worse than you guys did last year! Yanno, in that game where you let them get the 19 point lead just so it would be even more heartbreaking when you came back and won!? Yea, that was my favorite.

i really, really hope that he has improved as a passer and as a decision maker. maybe rich rod is just trying to light a fire under tate's butt. maybe he is just trying to get a new element ready for the osu game. hmm...

Everyone is saying they don't mind RR starting Denard since we're not winning anyways. But, if he totally tanks and losses the game for us then those same people will fly off the handle and bitch about how bad of a decision it was. Tate is the best option and should get the start. After all, isn't the goal to win, not make the second string QB happy.
