Is that they NEVER EVER sold out. The members NEVER compromised. They made music they wanted to make and not because some jackwagon producer told them they had to in order to sell albums. They did it their way. I can't say I liked everything they did but I admire the band for never selling out their music and their fans. It's something not many bands have been able to live by.

Not that they ever had anything to sell out (I think you're fuzzy on the concept) but bitching about "jackwagon producer[s]" when these dudes worked repeatedly with Mutt Lange suggests you're fuzzy on that part, too.

Robert Christgau's classic review of BiB:

"Replacing Aerosmith as primitives of choice among admirers of heavy machinery, these Aussies are a little too archetypal for my tastes. Angus Young does come up with killer riffs, though not as consistently as a refined person like myself might hope, and fresh recruit Brian Johnson sings like there's a cattle prod at his scrotum, just the thing for fans who can't decide whether their newfound testosterone is agony or ecstasy. AC/DC can't decide either--"Shoot to Thrill," "Given [sic] the Dog a Bone," and "Let Me Put My Love Into You" all concern the unimaginative sexual acts you'd imagine, and "What Do You Do for Money Honey" has a more limited set of answers than the average secretary would prefer. My sister's glad they don't write fantasy and science fiction, and if you're female you're free to share her relief. Brothers are more deeply implicated in these matters."

When Bon Scott passed, and in some ways it was.  I remember the Saturday night after learning of the death of Bon Scott, it was Highway to Hell night at the local watering holes.

I  just finished my Junior year in High School and Back in Black came out!  Also this was the year Bo won his first Rose Bowl. Wow, I miss these years when we had a good football team!

I wish a speedy recovery to Malcolm.   I remember getting Back in Black when I was living in a fraternity at Michigan, bringing it back to the house, slapping it on the turntable, and blowing out the walls using my roomate's incredible stereo.  Great album.  I can't believe they've been going this long.
