What do you want to see out of the 2014 Spring Game?
Welp, with another amazing Basketball season in the books and having 24 hours to reflect on it, I'm ready to move on and have the spring sports quench my thirst for Michigan Athletics.
The warm weather today in SE Michigan has caused me to bitten by the Football bug.
Yesterday I was dreading the fact of going to watch a glorified practice on Saturday, but the weather looking good (knock on wood) for the day and the Lacrosse game after have me in good spirits on the matter.
What do you want to see out of the spring game to send you home happy/make you happy?
- NO INJURIES
- Run the football for positive yards
- A good OL combo that can keep me from waking in a cold sweat during the summer worrying about this upcoming 2014 season.
- An effing pass rush. PLEASE?! (no hitting the QBs, obviously)
- Catch the football
For those who ask the annual question "will this be a spring game?". Nope. Hoke said it's going to more of a practice. Again. For the 13th(?) year in a row due to depth issues.
I'd like to see some kind of scoring system. RR's spring "games" had a way where the defense could score points, but nobody could figure it out since the ADept didn't bother telling us.
I'd like to see some kind of scoring system so I can be more entertained.
You?
The rules are: Whatever happens in a spring game is positive (just like weight gains when they come out). If the defense plays lights out the offense gets a pass because we have an inpenetrable defense. If the offense moves the ball well the defense gets a pass because we have an unstoppable offense. There, now you know the rules you can adjust your outlook accordingly.
Yes but how do you personally feel about the SEC?
to their Fred Jackson descriptions of their ability.
WIN THE GAME!
Of the female kind!
I wonder which (if any) of those headlines belongs with that terrific photo. Really any of them would be awesome.
I just hope Michigan wins.
A solid O-Line would be nice, but what this program really needs is more sky writing.
...to win the starting job at tailback.
why? Is it to so you could be proven right for believing he was the better RB coming out of HS? Are you his brother? Seriously, I am asking an honest question.
I ask because this always baffles me when I hear fans say things like this. I mean for me, I don't really care who gets the starting job so long as they are getting it because they have out performed the competition and are worthy of a starting role.
I could understand if you had some sort of vested interest in a particular player starting, like if you were a relative or something. Maybe even if it was a player who was a ffth year senior and there was some sort of sentimental reason for wanting him to start. Other than that though, I can't understand why a person would care which player started so long as they proved to be the best player at their position.
Decent Offensive Line play.......specifically, a small, limited number of tackles for loss.
A run for positive yards followed by another run for positive yards. Or maybe I'm just being fickle.
Harris Settle Campbell Cornell Wheatley and 6 other members of the top 20 committing together in a pre "not a game" ceremony...
....not officially of course but just loudly in one corner of the end zone.
Let's get er all done in one Saturday and move onto those 2016s!
27 carries by our running backs for > 27 yards.
Too soon?

I also thought about Football and looked into this years team for the first time since it was announced that Devin wasnt gonna play for the Bowl Game. Really all I want to see is the O-line do well. Also, a healthy Gardner. I never liked how Hoke does his spring games really only because they are boring. I always liked the the system in which they play an actual game with the 1string offense/2nd string defense vs the 1sting defense/2nd string offense.
With the QB depth they have now they should be running it in a game format. At least that was the excuse for not doing it previously.
but with the no touch rule still intact.
I'd like to see more physicality from the defense as a whole. I don't feel like we've had an intimidating unit for a long time, and I'd really like to not watch Ohio State run for 400+ yards on the ground again. I think a punishing defense is a very big step towards preventing that.
We should be more physical at the point of attack. And key to our assignments. And execute. And 11 hats rush to the ball. And facial hair on Hoke.
Agressive play by oline and dlin, not looking for a finished product but just some guts and toughness.
for good measure.
A team that is well coached, and plays to their potential.
