Mike Macdonald to be HC for Seahawks

This was for FauxMo to post. You ruined it.

Don't worry he'll break the news next week.
January 31st, 2024 at 2:15 PM ^
I mean if you still want to roast someone, I didn't click the link button on my original post. I'm sure that warrants a few hundred down votes

See someone already did it!
January 31st, 2024 at 2:16 PM ^
Man.
When Jay Harbaugh leaves can we please all agree to let FauxMo post it?
January 31st, 2024 at 6:04 PM ^
AhHH!!! I thought I set him up so well!
January 31st, 2024 at 2:14 PM ^
Good hire for them and great to see him take on this new challenge! Plus I gotta think that having more coaches with Michigan ties in the NFL can only be an advantage for us
January 31st, 2024 at 2:16 PM ^
Although, I am interested in who he and Minter will vie for on their staff. Could a Wolverine coach or two get poached? Now there are three teams that would like to have some familiar guys with them. It also takes any Ravens coaches off our list for D Coordinator.
January 31st, 2024 at 2:20 PM ^
Sam (I think) has said that Minter loves himself some Mike Elston.
If Minter wants Elston then Harbaugh will want Elston. And I think what we're learning is Harbaugh is going to get what he wants if money has any say in the matter.
That puts the whole Clint Hurtt thing in a new light, because maybe Moore was looking at who could coach the D-line. But Hurtt's not an option anyway. (I know, people didn't want him. Not the point I'm making here.)
January 31st, 2024 at 2:41 PM ^
Then keeping him will require a DC label, I am sure. Elston have any pro experience? I would wonder if he would want to coach pros. Midwest guy so the west coast might not be attractive. Baltimore might be though.
January 31st, 2024 at 2:46 PM ^
I have no idea who is doing what. I guess Minter isn't even officially anywhere yet. But we notably haven't named a DC. I would not be surprised if Michigan is still beholden to waiting for all the LA Chargers dust to settle so we even know what we have left.
January 31st, 2024 at 4:06 PM ^
Minter isn't officially with the Chargers? Pretty sure that was announced already.
January 31st, 2024 at 5:29 PM ^
I had thought so too. But the Minter to Chargers post below (getting negged) is that Minter is reportedly going to LA, per MLive's sources, who posted their article as breaking news today, and they said no one has actually formally acknowledged this.

This is two posts down, but the title buries the lede so it's not really your fault.
January 31st, 2024 at 2:18 PM ^
Ahh yeah then I deserve all the downvotes I guess. I thought ambiguous titles was a faux pas so I refrained from making mine such
January 31st, 2024 at 2:39 PM ^
To be fair, the previous post had one of the worst (and least informative) titles ever.
January 31st, 2024 at 2:24 PM ^
Was only a matter of time.
Hope he translates into running the show.
Maybe he can be next HC at Michigan someday if Moore doesn't work out (hopefully this is a moot point and Moore kills it).
January 31st, 2024 at 3:01 PM ^
Wasn't it well publicized that MacDonald hates recruiting?
January 31st, 2024 at 2:29 PM ^
Two MacDonalds for head coach. A two-headed monster if you will.

Legion of Boom 2.0 loading…
January 31st, 2024 at 2:42 PM ^
Good for him. I hope he does well.
January 31st, 2024 at 2:55 PM ^
So yeah, even if Harbaugh hadn't gone to LAC my guess is the Ravens would have recalled Minter back to be their new DC. I guess we'll see how this affects Orr's candidacy as DC at UM since I'm sure he'll be on the list in Baltimore.
January 31st, 2024 at 4:16 PM ^
To replace Macdonald as defensive coordinator, the Ravens have many options on their current staff to promote.
Assistant head coach and defensive line coach Anthony Weaver, defensive backs coach Dennard Wilson, inside linebackers coach Zachary Orr and defensive pass game coordinator Chris Hewitt are all candidates in Baltimore after interviewing for defensive coordinator positions with other NFL teams this offseason.

Mike Macdonald is the fifth Ravens defensive coordinator to become an NFL head coach. Three of the previous four (Marvin Lewis, '96-01, Rex Ryan, '05-08, & Chuck Pagano, '11) went on to make multiple playoff appearances.

Guess NFL doesn’t think it was just sign stealing.

meteoric rise. Congrats to Coach MacDonald
another organization Moore can tap into!

Ya-mo-be-there
January 31st, 2024 at 3:21 PM ^
I wonder how much Ravens management hates that John gave Minter to his brother. Especially now since they lost MacDonald and Minter has moved up to the NFL.
January 31st, 2024 at 4:35 PM ^
John didn't give Minter to Jim, Minter was DC at Vanderbilt when Jim hired him for DC. John lent Jim MacDonald for a year before taking him back as Ravens' DC.
January 31st, 2024 at 4:23 PM ^
That was a quick climb to HC for Jesse. Let's see if he can be a head coach while also being a good Defensive Coordinator as well.
January 31st, 2024 at 4:58 PM ^
Not OP's fault that the prior post about this makes some vague reference to it in the title.
January 31st, 2024 at 5:58 PM ^
So I suppose that means he's not returning to Ann Arbor to be Michigan's DC.
January 31st, 2024 at 10:08 PM ^
Mike Macdonald and Mike Morris.
