That's all well and fine, but that doesn't mean he should be involved. Should he support the athletics program? Absolutely. Publicly cheerlead and be visible? Absolutely. But should he be negotiating with a head football coach and be publicly performing duties within the athletic director's job purview? Absolutely not. Says a lot about both Warde and Ono that their respective job duties have become so murky.

This kind of thing bombed when James Duderstadt undercut Bo and then made things difficult for Jack Weidenbach and Joe Roberson with his various musings on how things should be. It bombed when Mary Sue Coleman thought it was a great idea to jump in to help save Bill Martin from himself. Anyone with experience in higher education will tell you that this isn't what you want from your president.

By and large it seems good responses. However, the talks for highest paid coach in CFB seems fishy after the contract news dropped earlier today. That seemed like warde was saving face to the fans imo.

Same thing he was doing at the event. I don’t care if anyone believes me or not at this point. Warde ruined this relationship and Stapleton got what he wanted. And in the meantime, now Warde spins it like he tried everything he could. It’s BS. I knows it’s BS and there’s nothing to be done now. All the people screaming don’t blame Warde all clueless. Fact check me. Check my history.

People can observe the same interaction between two other people and come away with different impressions and opinions about what transpired, who's right or wrong, etc. Two impeccable sources can reach opposite opinions.

On a personal level, I'm of the opinion that the powers that be at Michigan could have gotten down on their hands and knees, filled Harbaugh's house with money, and offered to hold his chamber pot while he pooped, but he'd still have wanted to go to the NFL.

I don't think anyone's to blame. It's just how things were going to go this time.

Logged in to say I believe.  It is painfully obvious to me that Warde only wanted JH on Warde’s terms and doesn’t have the balls to give JH what he deserved. Support to fight the bullshit that is the NCAA.

It’s insulting to be told you are loved, Offered a “best we can do” contract and then after you find a better one they say, oh, I mean we can do better too.   People with integrity don’t lowball.  They do their due diligence and give market pay.  Jim would have accepted market pay with the support he needed to succeed. Warde and the admin lowballed his ass(legal support wise) and Jim said seeya!

How ironic that Warde was able to retain Harbaugh when he cut his salary in half, but unable to keep him when offered the biggest contract in the league.

I hope these two have an NIL plan in place. For starters, the portal just opened so we could have tampering with our players and UM may need to make counter offers because we cant have Moore's first team be stripped down.

Secondly, Moore is going to need NIL in recruiting. Harbaugh could barely recruit top 15. Jay Harbaugh was a great scout. Herbert could groom 3 stars into stronger/faster players. Without those people around, Moore is going to need help getting athletes in. It's wishful thinking to believe our recruiting and great scouting will carry on without any problems.

I could be wrong but this reads like a lot of ass covering. What happened to signing him in season? Mentions contract amount after the fact as well as Jim’s NFL dreams, pushing a different narrative to combat what I’m sure was thousands of emails/messages from folk wanting to retain Harbaugh. Would love to know what was going on behind the scenes.

Now our stomachs are sick and it's all in our heads but Jim's getting on a jet to LA now. Boards are getting stressed now. Please don't go!

And we just can't look it's killing us...and taking control.

Going to a crappy Chargers team, crushing dreams of UM dynasty. Headed to LA next, gonna coach up Herbert next.

Guess this is just the price we pay, for that natty the other day. Guess we roll with that Sherrone Moore guy.

Can we find a bright side?
