Johnson and Graham make PFF Freshman All American Team
December 1st, 2022 at 7:39 PM ^
Not like it’s a hot take but Graham is going to be an absolute monster.
December 1st, 2022 at 7:55 PM ^
but Graham is an absolute monster.
FTFY
(my cheeky correction here also not exactly a hot take)
December 2nd, 2022 at 12:56 AM ^
I said it early on that he reminded me of messner.
December 2nd, 2022 at 7:59 AM ^
I watched Messner playing. He was much faster and quicker than Graham. Just check the number of sacks he had. I thing he is closer to Hutch senior or Steele.

Deone Walker from Detroit is also on the list. UM was in on him until the end. Deone had a great year for UK - wish we had him too.

Yes, he is a beast but I wonder about his ceiling? How much better can he get? This kid is already 100 percent bought in and he really cant improve on his passion and commitment.

Graham is scary good.
December 1st, 2022 at 10:19 PM ^
Watching him kinda reminds me of freshman Aidan tbh.

Graham’s a monster and Johnson has basically ended the season as CB #1.
After last year I thought that this current season could be the high point, but next year is looking just as promising. You gotta love it.

Johnson is good, but not the #1 corner. He’s learning. He is gonna be great though.
Space Coyote had a good breakdown of that epic Sainristil play vs OSU, and it was Johnson that got completely lost on that play. Mike bailed him out big time.
he WILL be great though and soon. 💯

Can you post the link? I miss seeing Space Coyote here at mgoblog.
December 1st, 2022 at 11:30 PM ^
Ohio State is one of the best throw back (the scheme) teams in CFB. UM was well prepared for it, as OSU found no success on those plays in this one (think they tried about 3 times and maybe got one yard) https://t.co/n6LducXtVT

No way this is on Johnson. He doesn't drop deep. He stops and reverses against Stover coming at full sprint. He's got an eye on Stroud, but there is no way he covers that. Great play by Sainristil, who never gave up, and had Stover 1:1 the entire route, despite his jump.
December 2nd, 2022 at 12:48 AM ^
The FS jumps the other cross because there's a RB going to the flat to opposite side and that is the coverage. Johnson can't pick up a cover running the other way and obey laws of momentum. I don't think Space Coyote is calling out Johnson here either, except to vaguely say he drops deep (he doesn't - he just can't reverse his field fast enough due to physics.)

Congratulations gents!

Enjoy these two exceptional young men, trending to future NFL star status. Both could only be here 3 years.
Congratulations Will and Mason 👍

Colston Loveland also seems way ahead of schedule.
December 1st, 2022 at 8:03 PM ^
Getting Jake Butt vibes from that young man!!
December 1st, 2022 at 8:24 PM ^
That’s mean! Jake Butt MINUS the bowl game, you mean?
December 2nd, 2022 at 1:06 AM ^
More rec skills than Jake for sure.
December 2nd, 2022 at 8:41 AM ^
That would be welcomed! Butt is arguably our best TE ever.

I think the 2023 team has the potential to be better than this year’s team. I see four obvious stars: McCarthy, Edwards, Graham and Johnson. I think Loveland will be one as well. Andrew Gentry is my dark horse. Lots of other very good players. They’ll have losses along the O-line, but have shown they’re always developing guys who can step in. The sky’s the limit.
December 1st, 2022 at 8:20 PM ^
Olu and Hayes gone from OL. I think we get one of Keegan and Zinter back. Crippen and Anderson battle it out for center. Maybe Barnhart slides back inside, Jones gets his RT job back. LT likely to be persi unless someone like gentry emerges. I think we will be ok.
December 1st, 2022 at 8:24 PM ^
I think the OL and running game takes a step back (but they’ll still be good), but I think JJ and the passing game improving can make up the difference while the defense has a chance to be even better.
Place kicking could be a scary x-factor though.
December 1st, 2022 at 9:02 PM ^
Keegan commented on Cades instagram post “see you in the ship next year” so I’d say that definitely points at him returning.
December 1st, 2022 at 9:29 PM ^
The question is whether the guys getting coached up for center are ready for it. I think Michigan has the guys to be good, and frankly they've earned the benefit of the doubt that they'll be able to replace the losses and at least maintain excellence.
The offense might look a bit different next year in some details. If I recall my various media intakes correctly, Michigan has changed its base run considerably this year from last, and of course JJ adds a lot as well. Donovan's elite speed combined with his somewhat lower power output suggests a running game that is tuned a bit differently to get him in space.
And while I don't know who will emerge as the next go-to outside receiver to complement what I assume will be top dog Roman Wilson (at least a guy or two, I hope) JJ is going to get massive YAC passes with Loveland, All, and Edwards to throw to.
There's a lot to be hopeful for next year on offense.

Remember last year none of us thought we will get BC who looks like HH in short yardage situation? Then that happened. Who knows what they develop next year. May be DE will do it all.
December 2nd, 2022 at 1:10 AM ^
I am more worried about the D. But I thought the same this year too.
December 1st, 2022 at 7:52 PM ^
Deone Walker from Cass Tech on there. Michigan almost had him too.
December 1st, 2022 at 8:00 PM ^
As they should!
December 1st, 2022 at 8:03 PM ^
Here is the All Big 10 team from PFF
December 1st, 2022 at 8:06 PM ^
Good to see Rod Moore get some love on 2nd Team. Once he gets his hands on you you’re going down.
December 1st, 2022 at 8:08 PM ^
Basically MSU’s entire oline on first team?
December 1st, 2022 at 8:22 PM ^
I see one interior d lineman from MSU listed on third-string D. What am I missing?
December 1st, 2022 at 9:53 PM ^
just...the joke. PFF loved MSU's line more than UM's.
...some people prefer Hardee's to Ruth's Chris?
December 1st, 2022 at 8:34 PM ^
Not one 1st team player on the “no name” top defense in the Big Ten?
Classic!
Now that’s some good coaching and team ball!
December 1st, 2022 at 9:18 PM ^
Olu 3rd team?? That’s bullshit
December 1st, 2022 at 11:21 PM ^
Third best scoring D in the nation led by 0 defensive players on the conference first team...
December 2nd, 2022 at 7:41 AM ^
Hard to believe Michigan only had 2 offensive linemen on the 3 teams.
December 2nd, 2022 at 8:01 AM ^
I. Know Seth and Brian have been talking about how poorly PFF grades OL. Now I see why
