Blue Outs are dumb and not intimidating

The student section may not be great compared to other schools’, but the ‘regular’ fans at basketball games are the bigger problem imo. Part of the problem with the Maize Rage is just how small and spread out that section is - they need to add more student seating and consolidate them in a section or 2 rather than spreading them out so wide. Say what you want about the students, but they show up with more consistency than anyone else in the lower bowl

I hate to make excuses but I am going to make excuses. See how I set you up for that? The team looked tired. I think they emptied the tank against Purdue and had weaker than normal legs for the game tonight.

Ok, cool. Noted.

None of the "___-outs" are intimidating to decent teams.

Agree but ALOT of noise sure is and I think that's what we're lacking right now. Correction - no thinking about it.
February 13th, 2022 at 1:30 PM ^
But the discussion was about blue-outs
February 12th, 2022 at 10:36 PM ^
I think it would have been fine if the team would have played better. They're so hot and cold but mostly cold this season. Definitely a bubble team that may slide down to the NIT.

Need to show up at the gym and practice shooting.
February 13th, 2022 at 11:26 AM ^
Yep, hard to point fingers at different phases of the game and the opponent when there are times when UM can't hit the broad side of a barn. Very, very poor shooting team at times

Well, we have had a maize out, now a blue out, and yet, we also have this...season,
I suppose the University could try something truly innovative and invite 12,000 fans to show up naked and we have a "Tackle Out" or "All Out", if you will.

if we're being superstitious about uni's, the all-white looked pretty damn good in West Lafayette.

We have nobody that can guard an athletic wing. Not one person. We all underestimated that. I know I did.
We’re really starting 2 pgs, 2 college centers, and a not very athletic wing
Today’s basketball is built around the athletic do it all wings. Positionless basketball.
We miss Franz. We all underestimated his value and thought Houston could step right in. That’s a tall task. You could be great and still not be able to fill those shoes.
Livers and Brown could also guard the athletic small forward.
I love Brooks. He can’t guard an athletic 3.
We have no one who can.
Seriously, Jace Howard might be our best hope at guarding an athletic wing
I understand that’s not really our problem tonight and we lost because of a lot of reasons. I’m venting on a season as a whole.
We have no one who can check an athletic wing
We don’t have an athletic wing who can get in the paint and create
that’s why we’re not very good
we put that on Caleb and thought he could be that and he’s just not

I agree. The combination of the loss of athletic wing defenders that also happened to be our best 3 point shooters has been lethal (Livers, Brown and Franz). The lack of consistent 3 point shooting combined with mediocre to bad defense just leaves us with only a tiny margin for error.

At least with a blue nobody can say they just don’t have a blue shirt to wear.
February 13th, 2022 at 2:58 PM ^
I don't need a blue shirt.

Michigan just sucks as a team, has nothing to do with atmosphere.
They are the most inconsistent team I've ever seen..
Getting blown out by a dogshit osu team I'd pathetic

Michigan just sucks as a team
calm down and go to bed.

You like your hyperbole, I see.

ven·ue
/ˈvenˌyo͞o/
noun
-
the place where something happens, especially an organized event such as a concert, conference, or sports event
And NO, it was not clear he was talking about the atmosphere/fans. He started the OP with a statement that “Crisler is one of the worst venues”. That stands on its own and is patently false.

The Blue towels they handed out said Beat Ohio (and Made in India) so this was either planned as a Blue Out months before any ESPN commentators calling out all of our open seats or we had a large stockpile of blue towels from a previous Ohio game

If we had a decent basketball team it would ber packed ..what a HUGE dissapointment this team has been HUGE
February 13th, 2022 at 8:08 AM ^
maize outs are also not ‘intimidating.’ they look good on tv, but i’d be surprised to find out that they bother visiting teams.
February 13th, 2022 at 8:26 AM ^
Blue is a dark color and made the interior of the arena dark and seemingly less attended that were actually there.
February 13th, 2022 at 1:35 PM ^
Blue Outs are dumb. I get it’s a school color, but Maize outs look better and are much more unique IMO
February 13th, 2022 at 4:44 PM ^
Idk why you're getting downvoted. You're right. It looked like shit on TV and just looked like no one was there
February 14th, 2022 at 8:17 AM ^
It looks fine in person. How it looks on TV doesn't impact the crowd or the players.
February 14th, 2022 at 1:16 PM ^
Wrong. It looked awesome.
