Everybody in green bay is keeping a close eye on their kneecaps
September 20th, 2021 at 8:17 PM ^
I do like the all white uniforms.
September 20th, 2021 at 8:23 PM ^
I had the exact opposite thought. Blue and silver look so good together and they have to use the whitest white unis ever. The offensive line looks like an overexposed photo on my tv.
maybe they are using that fancy new white paint invented at Purdue
September 20th, 2021 at 8:25 PM ^
It looks a little off with the silver helmets though. My favorites are the flat gray but I know a lot of people don't like those either.
September 20th, 2021 at 8:29 PM ^
I like the flat gray but I don’t like when the helmet color doesn’t match the same color in the uniforms, though. That’s too Sparty for my taste
September 20th, 2021 at 8:21 PM ^
Yay Lions! I'm cautiously..... VERY cautiously optimistic.....
September 20th, 2021 at 8:52 PM ^
I'd be happy if they cover the spread. That second drive....
"Biff, your girlfriend... Woof."
September 20th, 2021 at 8:22 PM ^
Well who predicted that? Cephus, back in the state he went to college in, scores and it’s 7-0 Lions. Nice drive.
September 20th, 2021 at 8:27 PM ^
What you doing posting on a blog when you're supposed to announcing the game on my tv.
September 20th, 2021 at 9:10 PM ^
Multi-tasking. Don’t tell anyone.
September 20th, 2021 at 8:23 PM ^
This game will serve one of two purposes: false hope win or SOL loss and make everyone realize that Mr. Bite the Kneecaps has a 6 year contract.
September 20th, 2021 at 8:26 PM ^
Even if they get blown out all season, I'm not judging this coaching staff on one season with this roster. They already look different than the last regime which is good.
September 20th, 2021 at 8:26 PM ^
Your use of emojis reminds me of John Teti's old Block and Tackle column that he used to write for the AV Club. I miss that quite a bit, it was appointment reading every week. If you get a few minutes sometime, you should read his column on the 'Invalid Invalid Invalid Invalid Fair-catch Signal Signal.'

Do the Lions still have the streak of never having a former head coach get another head coaching job? You’d think the Fords would accidentally make a good hire at some point
September 20th, 2021 at 10:07 PM ^
They had Shula and Belichick on staff.
September 20th, 2021 at 8:42 PM ^
Didn't realize Sewell was only 20. If he's able to hold his own this year, he ought to be a very good one
September 20th, 2021 at 8:53 PM ^
That is the most Lions defense ever... Ball hit him on the back of the head. Sheesh
September 20th, 2021 at 9:01 PM ^
I’m rooting for this guy, but I feel he’s gonna learn what it’s like to be a lions fan (a kick in the balls when you have hope)….
September 20th, 2021 at 9:04 PM ^
What a catch
September 20th, 2021 at 9:04 PM ^
Yes, Goff isn’t Stafford, but he isn’t a scrub either.
September 20th, 2021 at 9:07 PM ^
He was taken 1st overall in the draft. You would think the floor would pretty good.
September 20th, 2021 at 9:04 PM ^
My disgust with the Lions drafting another TE in the 1st round may have been misguided.
September 20th, 2021 at 9:06 PM ^
3 in 11 years is pretty bad, but at least one seems to have worked.
September 20th, 2021 at 9:11 PM ^
Math was on their side one would work out.
September 20th, 2021 at 9:16 PM ^
If you flip a quarter 100 times…
September 20th, 2021 at 9:06 PM ^
Time consuming. Positive yardage. Efficient.
They may win or lose, but I'm definitely buying into this is a much different team than last year. My cynicism is beginning to fade.
September 20th, 2021 at 9:12 PM ^
They will still suck but I’ve been impressed with the game plans so far. They fact they’re generating any offense with this joke of a WR core is impressive.
September 20th, 2021 at 9:16 PM ^
Agree, they may suck, but not in that most painful, historical Lions sort of sucking.
September 20th, 2021 at 9:13 PM ^
Lions D is so bad. No dudes. They need LB’s in the worst way.
September 20th, 2021 at 9:14 PM ^
Good God holding should just never be called for consistency sake. Let them do everything but lock their hands.
September 20th, 2021 at 9:18 PM ^
It's funny, I'm watching the ESPN 2 broadcast with Peyton and Eli (kind of cool, if you haven't watched it yet, check it out). And based on their commentary it sounds like they are basically describing the exact same game script as we saw against UW, with the Lions being Washington and GB is Michigan.
The Lions defense is sitting in man, two high safety and daring GB to run the ball. Peyton confirmed what a lot of posters were speculating on the board, and it's about testing Green Bay's discipline. He said Tony Dungy would tell him "Peyton, it's a test. They want to see if we will remain discipline with the run game, or get bored and make a mistake with the pass".
I think that is exactly what Washington was doing to Michigan, and credit to Michigan's coaches, they didn't fall for it. Cool insight.

Commentators throwing haymakers at Rashan Gary
September 20th, 2021 at 9:34 PM ^
I admittedly hate the Pack so I don’t care to watch them but I’ve never seen the skill set from Gary to be a passing rush end/OLB in the NFL and to have success at that position. Now, had he played DT/ 3 Tech like he should have going back to his time at Michigan…
September 20th, 2021 at 9:36 PM ^
Rashan was a very good player here but I do think he underachieved.
And, while I’ve only been half paying attention, I’ve seen the Lions’ RT handle him with ease.
September 20th, 2021 at 9:44 PM ^
It is kind of amazing how little production he has to go with what seems like tons of ability and no obvious issues.
September 20th, 2021 at 9:31 PM ^
Cephus almost with the catch of the year. Lions settle for 3 but will go into the half 17-14. A dream half; Lions commit no turnovers and shortened the game by having success on the ground.
September 20th, 2021 at 9:34 PM ^
Just here to remind everyone that urban Meyer is 0-2 in the NFL. ?
September 20th, 2021 at 9:35 PM ^
Who is the team in blue and white? Don’t recognize them.
September 20th, 2021 at 9:38 PM ^
I really don’t get that clock management at the end
September 20th, 2021 at 9:38 PM ^
Very impressed with the Offensive line so far. Goff has had lots of time in the pocket. DLine needs lots of help.... yikes
September 20th, 2021 at 9:44 PM ^
I've been impressed with Goff
September 20th, 2021 at 9:50 PM ^
Thoughts at halftime: The Lions just don't have very much talent on the roster top-to-bottom (thanks Bob and Patricia), especially on defense. That said, you can see the identity they're trying to build and the game plan is making sense. The offensive line is very good right now, but they still don't have the playmakers on the outside to be an explosive offense. The team plays with good intensity and the players give off the vibe that they have bought into the culture that Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes want to have.
They don't have the horses to be a legitimate contender this season, but if they can stay together and stay the course, I get the sense they're building this thing the right way and eventually the wins will come.
As a Lions fan, I'm fine with that (you gotta start somewhere) and if they maintain this enthusiasm it will be fun to watch them develop.
Green Bay should be able to win this one without too much trouble, but the Lions are testing their patience and not letting Rogers beat them deep. If they get reckless or careless the Lions could make them pay and it could get interesting.
Goff and Hock seem to be developing a pretty good rhythm. That corner fade in the back of the end zone was a hell of a pitch and catch.
September 20th, 2021 at 9:50 PM ^
Is Don Brown calling the Lions defense on 3rd down?
September 20th, 2021 at 9:51 PM ^
Rogers had all day to throw there so, Lions give up 50 yards on 3rd and 12 ?
September 20th, 2021 at 9:52 PM ^
If the Lions lose that 3 and a mile play for Green Bay will probably be the turning point.
September 20th, 2021 at 9:56 PM ^
Rodgers looks like he’s been living under an overpass.
September 20th, 2021 at 9:57 PM ^
He'd convert a 3rd down from that overpass against this defense.
September 20th, 2021 at 9:56 PM ^
Well that was fun while it lasted
September 20th, 2021 at 9:58 PM ^
Two absolutely perfect passes by Rodgas on that drive. Both on 3rd down.
September 20th, 2021 at 10:00 PM ^
We bitch about 3rd down conversions (rightfully so), but that pass was right on the money.
