OT: Mo Hurst, former DL Football player signed by 49ers after Raiders released him
After being surprisingly let go by the Raiders who seem to be getting rid of all their players, Mo Hurst has been signed by the 49ers.

Damn it Browns! He was there for the taking!
That could be a nasty 9ers defense if half the unit isn't injured like last year.
All they need is a QB that has shown he can run an offense...
I'm meaning Mac Jones.
OP didn't even include his home state and blood type smh
All jokes aside, how has he played as a pro? I'm guessing he hasn't been a world beater if he's getting released
Home state: Massachusetts
A 2018 fifth-round pick out of Michigan, Hurst made 17 starts in 40 regular-season games with the Raiders. After making 10 starts as a rookie, Hurst made just seven starts over the last two seasons. He made a career-low three starts in 2020, a year that also saw him record career lows in sacks and tackles for loss. During his time with the Raiders, Hurst tallied 76 tackles, eight sacks, seven passes defensed, one interception, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.
More details on last play and performance:
He's been pretty good actually. Hurst being released was a major surprise even to the raiders nation. It sounds like the Raiders got some new DL in the offseason and thought he was expendable
Great in the pass rush, liability in the run game. Hes going to be a 3rd down guy for sure. 49ers have stout run stuffers now. Hes certainly going to get sacks

Always will be one of the best sack celebrations!
Hoping Michigan lands Walter Nolen and he has a great sack celebration too.
Good pickup by the 49ers.

Mo and DPJ both went criminally late in the draft. Good pickup by John Lynch.

Time will tell on DPJ, but given his last game at Michigan it would be hard to call it criminally late.
It was a stupid deep wr class in the first few rounds but I believe DPJ should've been taken over players like Gandy-Golden, John Hightower, KJ Hill, Lynn Bowden and Isaiah Coulter based on his athleticism alone.
As Michigan fans we want that. Outside of Michigan fans there is a different view.
I doubt NFL scouts give that much weight to one game.
Regardless, DPJ is undervalued around here because he had a mediocre quarterback and a wealth of talent around him. He didn’t meet the world beating expectations we had but he was an excellent player

Mo was a projected late first rounder who only slipped because of his heart condition which turned out to be a non issue
I dont know if DPJ was taken late. He may have been viewed as an underacheiver.

Assuming he makes the team, this seems like a good thing for Hurst. He is out of his rookie deal early and can make some bigger dollars. Probably still not huge, but likely an increase.

Negged for too-informative thread title.
I should have went with: Mo signed.
Shorter would have been better. Everyone knows who Mo Hurst is.

Good for Mo. Hopefully, he'll be an asset to the 49ers.
