Slightly OT: Jets Fire Gase.

The rumors that Harbaugh was waiting to possibly hear from the Jets. The Jets have now fired their coach.

Pederson made some awful calls in the game tonight, the first one was not kicking a FG on 4th and goal from the 4 yard line down 3.  The next was benching Jalen Hurts for that dude that couldn't throw the football any better than me.  Seems like Pederson was coaching to lose the game, just to spite the NY Giants.

How Doug Pederson won a Super Bowl is beyond my comprehension of the universe that we live in.  Think about THAT Lions, that guy won a Super Bowl and you can't even win a fucking playoff game.  It would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic.

I think Jets find another guy. Probably Bieniemy. They can pick Fields. Urban gets Lawrence.

LAC (formerly SDC) are the best bet. Already have a real solid young QB and new stadium.

Hard to believe that all of us, including I, were so jacked to see JH come here just 6 years ago. It seemed perfect, but then again, so did Camelot. It should have worked but the loss to UW at home on prime time was the finalist of straws for me.

We can thank JH's wife #2 for getting him to move back to So Cal. She may have saved the day.

I did a check on "list of NY jets head coaches" and the list is pretty bad.

Other than Weeb Ewbank and the Miracle of Joe Namath and his guarantee,  that team has done nothing. They have been in (but won) exactly ONE Super Bowl. and that was in the late 1960s.

JH can't hurt their history. A lot of sizzle but no steak.

The NYG are the real team.

I hope someone hires him, but let's be real no one is. He was shoo'd out of the NFL and he's sucked ever since. Maybe some NFL GM/owner has been a coma for the last 5 years? Don't be silly, the misery stays in AA.

The AD won't fire him because of lack of balls, and the rest of the admin doesn't seem to care. But if the extension really is to 2026, they better have made the contract have some good exit clauses because he won't make it to 2024 and they'll still be paying him and someone else in 2026.

Wrote the following comments here on 12/8 when everyone was freaking out about there being no announcement at the time. Hmm... I wonder...

This is Warde firing him without saying it. It's a vote of no confidence that buys Harbaugh time to get things worked out with the Jets. It also lets a new coach finish up with his current team since he can't announce he's had talks with Michigan while upcoming games are still on the schedule. A new coaching hire puts us behind the 8 in recruiting anyway since we literally can't announce a new coach until the season is over. Not talking with Harbaugh until Dec. 16th = New coach is coming; Harbaugh is not being extended.

And...

It also forces the Jets to negotiate the buyout and lets us off the hook for Harbaugh's final year. Warde's being smart! Literally saving the University 6+ million.

I can't believe 6 years ago I was hoping Harbaugh was going to the NFL. That is what all our competitors would say 3 to 4 years ago. We use to dread the thought of Harbaugh leaving and thought once he won a couple NC  he may try the NFL again and had groomed a good assistant who would keep the team in top notch shape. It seem like after the 2017 season that all faded away and the defense and team got progressively worse. Now we all seem to be wishing that Harbaugh will either coach for the Chargers or the Jets, which is a 50 percent chance that one of these two teams will select Harbaugh. There is a 50 percent chance that none will and Harbaugh will show up with new assistant coaches to announce his new 5 year extension.

For a while I found the endless posts on HC speculation annoying. Now however, they've turned into a fascinating parade of delusion and magical thinking. Keep 'em coming; I look forward to all the socks-for-Christmas-presents reactions to what actually happens.
