Twitter activity regarding 2 2022 5* cornerbacks and OSU crystal balls
So there's a lot to unpack here so bare with me:
In the 2022 class, Michigan has been in on 2 5* cornerbacks:
#3 player in the country Domani Jackson who grew up a Michigan fan and said Michigan is his dream school
#7 player in the country Will Johnson who is a Michigan legacy
Both are set to be visiting Michigan for the Wisconsin game and we were supposed to be in great position to get both
In mid September, Jackson retweet 2 tweets about likely future Michigan commit 2022 4* CB Jaeden Gould
Fast forward to now...
3 crystal balls with confidence level 7 from Steve Lorenz, Tom Loy, and Bill Kurelic to OSU this afternoon
Jackson tweeting at #1 WR Caleb Burton (who also received OSU crystal balls) and Will Johnson to team up.
Bottom line:
OSU might $omehow pull in 3 top 10 players, two of which have Michigan connections... my blood is boiling

McGrone may have been a 5 star with one of the services, but none of the guys you named were composite 5 stars. I’m not sure they were even top 100 in the composite.

To be fair, UofM also had Hutchinson, McGrone and Mayfield as well and they ALL were 5*s :)
They were not 5-stars. They were all 4-stars. McGrone was the #116. Hutchinson was #112. And, Mayfield was #268. Generally 5-stars are reserved for the top 30 kids in each class. There were several guys higher ranked than they were in UM's classes like Charbonnet, Ruiz, Villain, Singleton, etc. But, there were a shit ton of more 4-stars that OSU signed during this period too. No matter how you cut it, OSU gets the lion's share of the highly sought after top end recruits no matter where you decide to draw the line in the rankings.

Both of you realize all three of those players have the chance to be first round draft picks, maybe even this spring, which would make them actual 5*s and mean the recruiting services missed ....like they do a lot.
I'd rather have the five stars in their junior year of college than their senior year of high school.

That's not the discussion. That is a completely different discussion based on different points. This discussion is about recruiting wins over OSU for highly sought after kids in HS. The reality is UM loses to OSU in that battle 80% of the time.

Thanks for the negbang worthy thread.

I'll bear with you, but not bare with you.

How much do you think OSU is paying for 5* CBs these days?
October 28th, 2020 at 6:11 PM ^
seems like a dumb take.
1. These guys ROUTINELY beat us
2. These guys ROUTINELY beat everyone not named Clemson
3. These guys ROUTINELY recruit at a high level
You don't have to pay anyone when you can do that.

Except the market dictates they have to...when you note that a four star LSU lineman Vandal Alexander got $180k on the way in.
Costs of doing business at that level are high.

OP---wrong website.
I think you were looking for Adult Friend Finder.com.

Dude how are u not use to this? If u think Michigan anytime soon is going to compete with osu in recruiting or on the field u are either dumb or haven't been around the past 20 years.

All this shit can change with just one win. But, we blew 2016 and 2017 had the QB unluckiness.
There is good news, though.
A new sheriff's in town.
He talks quietly but has a canon for an arm.
His name is Joe Milton, and he's coming for you, Buckeyes.

This has nothing to do with $. And when I saw this on 247 earlier I was pleasantly surprised to see it hadn't hit the board here. Signing day is a long ways away to have your blood boil.
Lets enjoy this season and freak out if/when Don Brown lets 60+ points happen again.

We've just got to beat them. This will keep happening until we do.
October 28th, 2020 at 6:04 PM ^
Wouldn’t be remotely shocked if they both went to OSU. They’ve sent multiple secondary players in the first round, and multiple in the top-10, and many of them are thriving in the NFL. There is a LOT for OSU to sell to prospective corners.
October 28th, 2020 at 7:11 PM ^
Why do people think OSU is paying them? You don't think consistently putting corners into the NFL first round isn't going to have an effect on CB recruits?
That's like saying the only reason Oklahoma is getting 5 star QBs is because they are paying them.
October 28th, 2020 at 8:45 PM ^
You have to pay to play. Taking the high road gives you front row seats to watch the teams playing for titles

Glad you had the edit, I'm liking this being an overreaction than a reality
October 28th, 2020 at 10:34 PM ^
Maybe OSU is bagging, maybe they aren't. But we are not on their level and will not be outrecruting them unless things change. And things might change! Maybe Day is the next Cooper (probably not) but we won't know that for a while

Domani Jackson now has Ohio state football in his bio on his instagram. Doesnt look good for the good guys.
October 28th, 2020 at 11:06 PM ^
And #1 overall QB Quinn Ewers just decommitted from Texas and is being crystal balled to OSU
October 28th, 2020 at 11:24 PM ^
So? OSU will get their top 3 class. Gonna happen even if we start beating them. Faster you grip that one you’ll sleep better at night.
October 28th, 2020 at 11:06 PM ^
Same as Will Johnson as he just put Ohio State in his bio.
October 28th, 2020 at 11:07 PM ^
Sorry, but can we focus more on football being played and less on 2022 recruits? Especially one week into the 2020 season?
October 28th, 2020 at 11:22 PM ^
Seriously. Can we play some football first before we freak out about 2022 recruits? Long way to go in that race.
October 29th, 2020 at 8:00 AM ^
Let's just hope Meyer ends up at Texas after this year and can start keeping that instate talent away from OSU.
October 29th, 2020 at 8:14 AM ^
On the other hand, maybe they have inside info that UM will be landing Wright, getting Cooper to flip from FSU and will get Gould to commit over the next few months. Boom...problem solved.
October 29th, 2020 at 10:33 AM ^
I'm glad it looks as if Will and Domani were trolling and they are ready to be a part of the greatest rivalry in sports!*
Not mad great players from Texas and Cali are willing to play in the B1G that means more Green's, Dunlap's, Charbonnet's, Giles's, Persi's to root for.
Let's throw a Ceyair, Toia and that kid from Washingtion Tuimoloau just for giggles.
*returning soon
