Saturday BBQ, Basketball and Adult Beverage Thread
Mates,
A beautiful Saturday up north, time to do the chores and light the BBQ, possibly have a beverage. You will have sparty taking on Maryland in a few minutes, too.
1. What's for dinner?
2. What's in your glass?
3. Watching hoops, rooting for Maryland, and how do you think we do tomorrow v. ohio?
Hope you have a very productive and fun Saturday

Five Guys for dinner. A large fry serves three... with left overs!
Bought a four bottle sample pack of Glenmorange single malt Scotch. Trying a little of each.
Beat Ohio. In everything and always.

You reheat takeout fries as leftovers?
February 29th, 2020 at 9:12 PM ^
I recently found a way to reheat fries. It’s been a huge mystery for me for years. I use an oven or a toaster oven. I salt up the fires a little. Place them at 300 for about 5 minutes. They will be just a little crispier, but not have that nasty potato reheat taste.
February 29th, 2020 at 10:23 PM ^
I dice them up, put them in a frying pan, and make hash browns for breakfast.
Also, Five Guys gives you a bucket load of fries.

Why can people be nonchalant but are never chalant?
February 29th, 2020 at 7:53 PM ^
its because the chalants were all wiped out in a terrible dental floss accident. nobody will speak about them because of the horror
February 29th, 2020 at 7:58 PM ^
Did that horrible event happen in Montana?
Beautiful state, I sure hope they can get themselves high in the saddle again soon.
February 29th, 2020 at 8:07 PM ^
Montana, home of the dental floss tycoons.
February 29th, 2020 at 8:12 PM ^
its an age-old story. if you've heard of one montana dental floss tycoon tragedy, you've heard of a thousand of 'em.

In the same way they are disgruntled but never gruntled.
Or things are discombobulated but never combobulated.
February 29th, 2020 at 7:53 PM ^
Watched some XFL today.
February 29th, 2020 at 8:04 PM ^
have not been following it. how do you like it? is there a team you are watching in particular?
February 29th, 2020 at 8:29 PM ^
I went to the NY guardians game today. It was cold but a lot of fun. Not a big crowd but a good crowd.
February 29th, 2020 at 8:43 PM ^
i could see that as being fun if it was close by. decent football, probably easy travel and parking.
where was the game? would you go again?
February 29th, 2020 at 8:01 PM ^
A little pork on the grill, some gin & tonic for the drink and reviewing the weather to see if fishing on the gulf is a possibility tomorrow. Go BLUE!!
February 29th, 2020 at 8:03 PM ^
Softball now on a 5 game losing streak. Ugh.
February 29th, 2020 at 8:03 PM ^
1. Made lasagna. Delicious!
2. Way more wine than I should cause wife is being a b-word
3. we lose a close one at OSU. Everyone freaks out. The world keeps spinning
February 29th, 2020 at 8:05 PM ^
faux mo, do tell about your kitchen abilities with the lasagna. i would never have predicted a killer clown would be a killer in the kitchen.
sorry about mrs. faux mo. maybe wine and lasagna will make it better?
February 29th, 2020 at 8:52 PM ^
Lasagna is easily the most underrated food ever. It's basically all the best parts of pizza in concentrated form. And it reheats better than any food known to man.
February 29th, 2020 at 9:40 PM ^
It’s literally better the second day. Name one other food like that?
February 29th, 2020 at 9:47 PM ^
Chili
Spaghetti sauce
Italian Beef
Homemade Chicken Soup
+1 for the chili only
February 29th, 2020 at 8:03 PM ^
Relaxing. Just watched Supercross and now as we speak on the toilet.
February 29th, 2020 at 8:07 PM ^
Do you have a pygmy pony, just about this big?
February 29th, 2020 at 8:08 PM ^
i am afraid to ask where the sparty girl crush comes into the mix with the pony.
February 29th, 2020 at 8:11 PM ^
Jet's pizza and a Spaten Oktoberfest.
Go turtles!!
Beat staee ?
February 29th, 2020 at 8:57 PM ^
How did you find an Oktoberfest in February? Or has it been sitting in your fridge for 6 months?
February 29th, 2020 at 9:20 PM ^
Hey Eyb, I store beer in my basement. I have bottles of Belgian Strongs that are 3-4 years old. Cool dark storage is the key. As far as the Spaten, picked up 4 cases in October from Costco. Down to my last six pack ?. Rotating Yuengling in after the Spaten is gone. Black and Tan and Golden pilsner.

XM and friends,
In a long line at Terry Black’s in Austin, TX. Supposedly worth the wait for their BBQ... Had a small amount of some first class Texas moonshine and a local Pecan Porter last night. Wife is at bar surprising me as I wait in the line.
February 29th, 2020 at 8:14 PM ^
describe this texas moonshine.
and do you need to change your name to 'texas pete'?
February 29th, 2020 at 9:11 PM ^
XM, The original was not dissimilar to rubbing alcohol, but the pear, cinnamon, and ‘cat daddy spiced’ were tasty and went down smoothly. (Did a dealers choice flight)
February 29th, 2020 at 9:50 PM ^
Terry Black was a great experience and good food, but not totally unique. I was in a long line at a BBQ dive in Phoenix and the meat was just as tasty! Same paper-on-tray delivery, too.
February 29th, 2020 at 8:19 PM ^
Tell me more about that pecan Porter, sir. Which local brewery?
February 29th, 2020 at 9:02 PM ^
512 Pecan Porter, Austin. They described it as:
Nearly black in color, (512) Pecan Porter is made with Organic US 2-row and copious amounts of Crystal malt, along with Baird’s Chocolate and Black malts. Its full body and malty sweetness are balanced with subtle pecan aroma and flavor from locally grown pecans. Yet another true Austin original!
i describe it as: rich and delicious
February 29th, 2020 at 9:23 PM ^
Thanks Indy Pete!!
Next time I am in Texas, will check it out. Sounds amazing ??
February 29th, 2020 at 8:17 PM ^
and sparty is putting it on the terps right now, shooting 7/8, including 3/3 from the 3. no bueno.
February 29th, 2020 at 8:44 PM ^
Maryland's got them right where they want 'em.
In perfect position to make an end-of-game run.
February 29th, 2020 at 8:19 PM ^
I live in Okemos, a stones throw from MSU. The good news is Good Bites no joke Nachos with pulled pork for dinner is great and Ozone Brewery in Old Town has some great beers - I am drinking Liquid Art - a barrel aged ale...
February 29th, 2020 at 8:25 PM ^
i had to be in lansing yesterday, in the downtown part. it is a depressing place, lots of empty buildings, ugly concrete, bad roads, yech. and that's before you visit EL and sparty.
February 29th, 2020 at 8:56 PM ^
I had to make a run to pick up feline blood product in the worst part of Lansing a couple years back. I think it was as bad as it gets in the first world. Literally looks like a war zone. I'm not even saying that in a mocking way. It was downright sad.
February 29th, 2020 at 9:59 PM ^
here's a line you don't read often: I had to make a run to pick up feline blood product
married to a vet, i guess that goes with the deal.
February 29th, 2020 at 10:41 PM ^
Absolutely. The conversations at our dinner table are unique, no doubt. There is a severe shortage of feline blood, sadly. We've usually gotten it from our male tabby we rescued, but since he got diabetes last summer he's had to retire from donor duties.
February 29th, 2020 at 10:47 PM ^
Word on the street is he faked the diabetes so you guys would quit sticking him with needles
February 29th, 2020 at 11:29 PM ^
I start the conversion by mentioning Lansing and it quickly takes a dark turn with feline blood, faked diabetes and needles. I didn't realize I lived in such a dark place...
February 29th, 2020 at 8:29 PM ^
I had deep fried chicken wings and homemade potato wedges for dinner
Currently drinking Blueberry Maple Stout from the Saugatuck Brewing Co. It is absolutely phenomenal
February 29th, 2020 at 8:38 PM ^
That sounds a whole lot better than what I'm drinking: Mucinex Cough medicine. My bad cold I've been fighting since midweek has evolved into bronchitis.
Gotta get healthy quickly, really wanting to take in some B1G playoff hockey next weekend!
February 29th, 2020 at 8:42 PM ^
Get well soon, neighbor ?
February 29th, 2020 at 9:26 PM ^
Thanks, neighbor!
February 29th, 2020 at 8:52 PM ^
bummer. have you been exercising at all?
February 29th, 2020 at 9:23 PM ^
Yes, but only indoors at home on my exercise bike. That and drinking a lot of water, eating as much fresh fruit as possible despite not having much of an appetite. When I stepped on the scale this morning I was 7 lbs lighter than last weekend.
Had my flu shot back in mid November and tested negative for influenza A and B this week, and no, I haven't traveled anywhere other than last Friday to Yost for ND @UofM hockey.
