OT: World Series Game 7 (Nationals at Astros)
I know, this is like five hours early, but I'm getting hyped.
Max Scherzer (YTMS) is taking the mound for Washington after being scratched from a Game 6 start because he could barely move his shoulder. Zach Greinke had a solid outing in Game 3 to kickstart Houston's three straight wins in DC.
Should be an exciting one tonight!

It's past 8pm in London, so this is actually quite apropos.

Go Astros!!!!!???
October 30th, 2019 at 6:18 PM ^
Love baseball and have watched every game hoping for a good Series. As soon as my wife heard me slightly takes sides with the Astros, she started cheering for The Curly W’s. We live in Braves country (she’s a Cubs fan).
Go Astros!! Max’s shoulder will give out before the fourth inning.

BTW, OP, YTMS was scratched from Game 5. Stras was always starting Game 6. I'd say go back and edit that in the OP, but, you can't.
October 30th, 2019 at 3:53 PM ^
Ah yes, game sixminusone. My bad.
October 30th, 2019 at 3:49 PM ^
I know they won recently, but I want Greinke to win a ring SO BADLY.
October 30th, 2019 at 3:52 PM ^
I've got no rooting dog in this fight but I gotta say I am definitely pulling for the Nationals to win this thing. Not so much because I like them (although I kinda do) but because I really do not like the Astros.
I found it amazing that this is the first game 7 in any major sport where the visiting team has won the first 6 games. Should be a good one tonight.
October 30th, 2019 at 4:00 PM ^
When will our Indians win one? I might be your age
October 30th, 2019 at 4:37 PM ^
Actuarially speaking, I've got about fifty years to live yet. I put the odds of a Tribe championship in my lifetime at about 50/50. I've got a few friends who were born mere months after the '48 series - they're north of 70 and still have never had a parade. :(
October 30th, 2019 at 4:00 PM ^
If the trend continues, Nats will win.
Kinda sucks for all of the home team fans who went to the games and saw them lose.
Hope tonight's game is a barnburner ??⚾⚾
October 30th, 2019 at 4:54 PM ^
If only the umpires will finally let the two teams play without clown shoe interference.....
GO MAX, GO NATS!!!!
October 30th, 2019 at 6:22 PM ^
Waaaaay too many make up calls coming from behind the plate. Same thing happens in Little League, so it must be a learned habit.
October 30th, 2019 at 3:55 PM ^
The road teams has won each of the first six games of a World Series. This has never happened before. Will home field disadvantage continue?
October 30th, 2019 at 4:03 PM ^
will watch. baseball gets interesting this time of year, and a game 7 is special.
torn on who to root for. love JV and he had his chance last night. washington hasn't won it since ever. made it to the series in 1932 and lost. always liked scherzer. might end up rooting for the sens.
October 30th, 2019 at 4:39 PM ^
Well the '24 Senators won it, but that kind of proves your point. It's a different Washington team and that was almost a century ago.
October 30th, 2019 at 4:44 PM ^
Somewhat incredible that Justin Verlander who'd be considered among the best Major League Baseball pitchers over the past 15 seasons, is now 0-6 in World Series games. LINK
October 30th, 2019 at 5:01 PM ^
I agree. That is really hard to understand.
October 30th, 2019 at 4:48 PM ^
Would love to see Scherzer get a ring. Also would be interesting to see the Nationals win the WS without Harper.
October 30th, 2019 at 6:27 PM ^
Root for the “sens”? The Senators moved to Minnesota from DC.
However...
The Montreal Expos moved to DC and became the Nationals (or ‘nats’).
October 31st, 2019 at 5:10 PM ^
HAIL TO THE NATS!!!!!
Classy move by Trea Turner paying homage to his NC STATE by wearing Wolfpack gear all season after every game.
He joined the Champagne blizzard by wearing a NC ST football helmet....
Well done....
October 30th, 2019 at 4:04 PM ^
For whatever reason the home team's offense has dissappeared in every game of the series. The Astros will have to break the series trend if they want to win.
October 30th, 2019 at 4:15 PM ^
Confession: I have not watched one single pitch of MLB this year.
But as a sports fan, I'll watch any game 7 of a championship series, so I may break this trend.
October 30th, 2019 at 4:22 PM ^
I'm not a fan of either team but am stoked that we get a game 7 anoche! Hopefully something amazing/memorable happens late in the game.
October 30th, 2019 at 4:40 PM ^
A game 7 last night? Are you from the future?
October 30th, 2019 at 4:26 PM ^
Is there more than one Max Scherzer?
October 30th, 2019 at 5:00 PM ^
yes.
no.
maybe.
October 30th, 2019 at 4:58 PM ^
Scherzer is a bulldog. Can't wait to see him pitch with the Series on the line.
One of the best World Series I've seen in a long time.
October 30th, 2019 at 5:03 PM ^
Go Astros!!! ⚾️ ?
October 30th, 2019 at 5:08 PM ^
Definitely pulling for the Nats, lived in NoVa/DC until 2013 and was at the stadium for that awful game 5 meltdown against the Cards in 2012.
I think the Nats take it, with Strasburg pulling a Randy Johnson and coming in for a key relief out or two the day after throwing over a 100 pitches. Otherwise Max better throw at least 7+, Nats bullpen is about as reliable as Michigan's slant defense last year.
October 30th, 2019 at 5:13 PM ^
Fuck the Nats
-Lifelong Orioles fan
October 30th, 2019 at 5:34 PM ^
Scherzer vs Verlander would have been more bitter and fitting for Tigers fans
October 30th, 2019 at 6:21 PM ^
Other than Scherzer is there anyone on the 2014 Tigers that hasn't won a World Series yet?
October 30th, 2019 at 6:26 PM ^
Max....for the win.
October 30th, 2019 at 9:09 PM ^
Man oh man, Scherzer is playing with fire.
October 30th, 2019 at 9:42 PM ^
I guess I don't know the strike zone anymore. Thought I did.
October 30th, 2019 at 9:59 PM ^
He came off the bag. There may just be a fix after all.
October 30th, 2019 at 9:59 PM ^
When you put RISP in every inning, you're going to get burned. Sherzer just got burned. 2-0 Houston, with 2 outs and runners on 1st & 3rd.
October 30th, 2019 at 10:04 PM ^
Nats need to start hitting. Can't win if you can't score. Two runs isn't impossible, but they are running out of innings.
October 30th, 2019 at 10:25 PM ^
Rendon to the rescue again ⚾
October 30th, 2019 at 10:14 PM ^
Greinke throwing a crafty one hitter so far. Wonder how far AJ will let him pitch?
October 30th, 2019 at 10:27 PM ^
Soto needs a pitch to his head. Knock some sense in him.
October 30th, 2019 at 10:31 PM ^
Holy shit, 3-2 Nats!!!
October 30th, 2019 at 10:37 PM ^
wowowowowowow
October 30th, 2019 at 10:49 PM ^
The average baseball fan is 53 years old. Older than any other major sport in America. Such a great game. I really hope the younger generation catches on
October 30th, 2019 at 11:10 PM ^
As a kid, we played baseball every single day in the summer, just neighborhood teams. That was the best.
October 31st, 2019 at 12:00 AM ^
Me too. We would play home run derby all the time.
I went to Central one welcome week since Michigan started a week later and one day we played a full baseball game. Like 20 college kids. It was a blast.
October 30th, 2019 at 11:12 PM ^
I believe 50% of the population lives in eastern timezone. Having all your world series games end after 11pm isn't helping things. My 4 and 8 year old boys love baseball but they have only seen a few innings of this whole series.
October 30th, 2019 at 11:28 PM ^
$$$$$ drives everything.
Primetime TV=$$$$$$
Playin games, wildcard rounds=$$$$$
Younger generation not able to watch, not revelant.☹️

I’m above average!
