Threat Level Michigan - This is... where we are now
Buddy of mine sent me a link to Eleven Warriors piece..... I can't believe this is where we are now. Not sure how we fix it, but it's annoying that there is this level of confidence from our "Rivals"
For the record, they have our current threat level set at "LOW"

Beat Rutgers.
September 24th, 2019 at 12:19 PM ^
Screw that. Spend every second of every remaining practice preparing for OSU.
If Harbaugh's going out, he might as well go out with a bang!
September 24th, 2019 at 12:21 PM ^
Indiana has to be feeling good about finally getting a win over Michigan at this point.
September 24th, 2019 at 12:22 PM ^
I'm onboard with this. Obviously the playoff is out of the question. All I really want this year is a victory over OSU, which is almost impossible right now considering where the teams are at this point. I'd be fine losing to ND again if it meant beating OSU.
EDIT: I'd even be fine with losses to both ND and MSU if it meant we defeated OSU.
September 24th, 2019 at 2:16 PM ^
The playoffs aren't technically impossible. If Wisconsin runs the table and Michigan wins out, and Michigan wins the rematch in Indy, you couldn't keep out a 12-1 Michigan team that just beat a 12-0 Wisconsin team.
But, yeah, it's basically out of the question. I am hoping for 9-3.
September 24th, 2019 at 5:25 PM ^
Have you watched the last 5 games? If you have how the hell will this team win out?
September 24th, 2019 at 2:36 PM ^
It's not mathematically out of the equation, but, we all saw what happened on Saturday so, yeah. In some universe, Michigan runs the table and beats Wisconsin in a rematch in Indy. Unfortunately, that's almost certainly not our universe here.
In 2017 we were an 8-4 squad. An OSU missed FG gave us the ball with 2:36 seconds left in the 4th quarter down 24-20, so a shot at a game-winning drive. O'Korn threw the INT but let me reiterate we had a shot at a game-winning drive against Ohio State with John O'Korn at QB.
So, it's possible.
September 24th, 2019 at 2:49 PM ^
Two things:
1) This OSU team is likely far better than the 2017 version.
2) That was either the worst interception of all time or the best completion of all time (because that pass was right to the safety...he barely had to move).
September 24th, 2019 at 3:16 PM ^
Absolutely possible but that 2017 Defense was better than the Defense in '16 and '18
Anything is possible tho, Go Blue!!
September 24th, 2019 at 12:51 PM ^
that's what I'm saying Mr. Putin. Just beat OSU and it will be the best season in 16 years.
I am so sick of seeing "Michigan Classic" show up on my TV guide only to turn it on and see us barely beat Luke Freaking Finkel in a game we should have won by 3 scores.
I mean come on, his last name is Finkel
Next chance to raise the threat level is Iowa
September 24th, 2019 at 1:04 PM ^
Not sure if you're joking, but his last name is Fickell
September 24th, 2019 at 1:59 PM ^
In the words of The Great One...
IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT HIS NAME IS!
September 24th, 2019 at 1:17 PM ^
I mean, his last name is Fickell... not sure if you were attempting a joke or not.
September 24th, 2019 at 7:35 PM ^
thanks, this is a technique I use a lot in my professional life, no one can ever tell if I am incompetent or just joking
September 24th, 2019 at 1:03 PM ^
Honestly, even if every second of every practice was dedicated to osu... would it matter? If past history is any indication the team would just shit the bed regardless.
September 24th, 2019 at 1:16 PM ^
Maybe that's what they have been doing, already.
September 24th, 2019 at 1:40 PM ^
I hope so. Back in the Cooper years mediocre Michigan teams used to beat OSU all the time.
It was glorious.
September 24th, 2019 at 2:00 PM ^
From the beginning, this was a 1 game season. Sure it would be nice to win some more games, but 3-9 with a win over OSU somehow seems more appealing than another 9-3 with losses to MSU, ND and OSU.
So I totally agree with this game plan. It's how Dantonio manages to keep things close every year no matter how terrible the rest of their season is! But it will never happen here.
September 25th, 2019 at 10:03 PM ^
Yes please. Realistically we aren't winning more than 8 games so why not win 6 but make one of them Ohio?
September 24th, 2019 at 11:04 AM ^
Should it be different?
September 24th, 2019 at 1:56 PM ^
That's my thought. Why would anybody find that shocking? The team looks terrible. I would have found it laughable if it were anything but "low."
September 24th, 2019 at 11:06 AM ^
Great. Are these the same comedic geniuses who say "skunk weasals" and "scUM"?
Yeah, doesn't matter if the series is going their way or not. They'll never change.
September 24th, 2019 at 12:41 PM ^
Really? scUM bothers you?
That's like white people getting called honkeys... it's supposed to be a slur but it really doesn't move the needle.
September 24th, 2019 at 12:52 PM ^
It's similar to their "dont give a damn about the whole state of Michigan" song. They sing it like it's supposed to provoke outrage. But it just comes off as unfunny.
September 24th, 2019 at 4:36 PM ^
Which is also interesting as in my experience Staee uses "scum" more than ohio state does.
The song doesn't bother me because the other 49 states have this:
September 24th, 2019 at 1:15 PM ^
You misunderstand. If "scUM" bothers me at all, it's because it's eye-rollingly dumb and cringe-worthy. Hard to imagine the kind of person who would think it's clever. And no, not remotely offended by it.
September 24th, 2019 at 3:34 PM ^
Cooler poopers, Ohio rather than Ohio State, etc.
September 24th, 2019 at 11:06 AM ^
The plan is almost complete.
September 24th, 2019 at 11:21 AM ^
We're lying in the weeds! It's finally us! Got 'em right where we want 'em!
September 24th, 2019 at 11:07 AM ^
it sucks....but we earned it on the field
September 24th, 2019 at 11:08 AM ^
It's one thing to be in the BPONE. It's quite another to see how deep the pit really is.
It might be time to close the internet browser, put down your phone, take a deep breath, and go for a walk outside in the sunshine. It's a lovely day. Take a jacket; there's a light breeze.
September 24th, 2019 at 11:08 AM ^
That's where I'd have it right now. I cannot come up with any scenario where we beat OSU. I'm having trouble coming up with a situation where we don't get embarrassed.
This could change as the season goes on as we could improve or they could fall apart, but at this moment in time, I think the Wisconsin score is the best case scenario.
September 24th, 2019 at 11:13 AM ^
New guy signs up a few days ago, posts until he gets enough points to post and then posts a "buddy of mine sent me this from 11W". Fuck off.
September 24th, 2019 at 11:59 AM ^
OP been here for 8+ months and doesnt seem to be a troll based on posting history.
and honestly .... how much of a threat at this point in time is UM to OSU?
September 24th, 2019 at 12:03 PM ^
Signed up 8 months ago and first post was... yesterday.
Guess I just don't want to see 11W content on this blog. If I wanted to see 11W stuff about how much we suck, I'd.. I dunno, go to the 11W site?
September 24th, 2019 at 12:05 PM ^
As I said the other day, someone needs to get the Raid out because the true cockroaches all have awaken after this loss.
September 24th, 2019 at 1:05 PM ^
I prefer Cracker Barrell to Arby's
September 24th, 2019 at 2:15 PM ^
And in that post he showed how much better Fields is than our QB's.... you don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to figure it out.
September 24th, 2019 at 2:16 PM ^
There's definitely a distinct pattern.
September 24th, 2019 at 11:13 AM ^
My theory is that we should keep losing to them for another 5-10 years until they can't possibly be obsessed with us anymore. Then we can sneak up on them and get a surprise W every now and then. Mid term pain for the long term gain.
September 24th, 2019 at 11:39 AM ^
A “Where’s the threat?” Would be nice too
September 24th, 2019 at 12:16 PM ^
Clearly you don’t understand. 65 million wins over Michigan wouldn’t be enough for them. They’ll never not be obsessed with Michigan. They’ll never not be focused on Michigan.
September 24th, 2019 at 3:58 PM ^
I always read about how obsessed Osu is with Michigan on a Michigan blog that is yet again talking about Ohio State. I think our fan bases are collectively obsessed with each other. Some of my favorite games of all-time are OSU games. OSU vs. Purdue last year, vs Clemson in the playoffs, and the back to back BCS championship game losses in 07 & 08. It’s okay to admit it.
September 24th, 2019 at 8:20 PM ^
Ohio State is way more obsessed with Michigan than the reverse. I saw people here saying a few weeks ago that victory over OSU is so vital they'd "accept" a 9-3 season if it included that win. To a Buckeyes fan, those folks sound like they don't really care about the game. I'd take a 6-6 season with a win over Michigan (even this year).
September 24th, 2019 at 1:29 PM ^
You think a fanbase that systematically and religiously goes out of its way to remove every "M" from every single word, graphic, or tombstone during the month of November; sings "We Don't Give a Damn About the Whole State of Michigan" with more fervor than the Star Spangled Banner; considers Toledo to be a city in Michigan because Upper Peninsula; and, shouts the retort "...And Michigan Still Sucks" every time someone says "It's (you name the time) o'clock in the morning/afternoon/evening" is going to give up their obsession?
They won't even be moderately happy until our next 8 coaches go 0-fer in wins against them and they get to the point where they can run up the score to 100-0 because they had a sense of urgency going into the 4th quarter.
September 24th, 2019 at 4:54 PM ^
What you say, it is largely of the truthful. I don't sing the "Don't give a damn..." song or add "Michigan still sucks" to the time. (Didn't actually know the latter was a thing.) But it's certainly true that Michigan Week was a huge deal when I was there. Tressel and Urban obviously got what The Game means and I'm sure Day does as well. I also assume that Harbaugh gets it. So here's a question that's hard to quantify: how much do you guys hate us? I mean, I know you do; I just wish there were some way to compare animosity levels; perhaps 2 different measures for coaches/players and fan bases. But I can't think that that's what accounts for recent history b/c Cooper (just threw up in my mouth a little bit) had the talent to win at least half of the games against you and the fan base's acrimony was just as intense. It's just interesting to consider what role, if any, hatred for an opposing team factors into performance. (For anybody who might be wondering: I've joined lots of BIG forums [fora?] b/c there's usually a level of intellligent, funny discussion. I absolutely loathe the way many people here in State College deify the football team and Paterno, but Black Shoes Diaries is a really thoughtful, articulate site. So I hope I don't come across as a troll b/c that's not my intention.)

Does the nail hate the hammer? At this point there really is no rivalry. A snowball’s chance in hell...maybe. We are resigned to the fact that unless we really unleash the money cannon, like OSU, Bama, Clemson, Georgia and OU we can’t compete. Michigan will never that, enjoy your I’ll gotten gains.
