BWW/Copper Bowl Tailgating Plans
Alright, for those of us who have made the fateful decision to travel to the Phoenix area (or who happen to live in close proximity) to attend tomorrow's game, what are folks' tailgate plans?
The Alumni Tailgate offers drinks with tickets, but unfortunately a few of the friends I'm attending with are not alumni / AAUM members. So that is off the table.
We're definitely going to need to pre-emptively numb the inevitable pain that will be experienced at the game, so hopefully there are some folks lurking who are headed to the game and already have a plan or someone with knowledge of Tempe can recommend something that might be fun / UM friendly.
Thanks much in advance for any thoughts that do not include "skip the trip / game."

Or hooters filling in anything, really.

Or ASU girls doing anything...

I'm 99% sure, nay, 100% positive Arizona State does not actually offer classes. It's all a front for the local liquor stores and the amateur porn industry.

Yuck. To each his own, but I went to grad school there and avoided Mill Ave like the plague. Douche City. Casy Moore's (just off of Mill, a 10 minute walk to the stadium) is the only bar around there that I'd consider cool.

It doesn't sound like this is quite what you're looking for, but there is the Buffalo Wild Wings Tablegate if nothing else pans out:

spend the day prior to the game? I'll be traveling with my wife so we'll be skipping the tailgating scene and will be taking the light rail in from downtown Phoenix.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Heard museum b/ Thomas and McDowell
Phx art museum N of McDowell
"Roosevelt row" is E (mostly) off the light rail - art gallleries and vintage
Downtown phx - a few things right in the middle; mostly a waste
Then Sky Harbor land acquisitions/ruin porn/methyville, then Tempe
Get out there, frolic near Mill, then crash a tailgate.

I was thinking about the tablegate, but that kinda sounds lame. I mean, Smashmouth is playing it, fergodsakes. And I'm also with a friend whom is not and alum.

It's been a few years since I've lived there, but I really tried to avoid Mill Ave as much as possible. Full of bro dawgs and sorostitutes. Rula Bula on Mill is an ok place with some decent Irish Food, but Casey Moore's (just off of Mill, but 10 minute walk to the stadium) was my favorite bar. Lots of outdoor seating, good food, and great hipster watching.
Yucca Tap Room on Southern requires a 7 minute drive/taxi ride, but that was my favorite dive bar. Great shows, shuffleboard, and cool western/rockabilly/honkey tonk scene.
Four Peaks (also a short drive) is a great brewery with great food.

Tablegate is where I'm heading... Its put on by the Fiesta Bowl committee and while I've never been to the BW3 official tailgate, the Fiesta Bowl one is pretty cool.
At last year's Fiesta Bowl tailgate, there was live golden gloves boxing matches, rock climbing for the kiddos, some carnival games, live performances by both team's pep band, meal w/admittance that was ok, and lots of alcohol. I will say this though be prepared for a sea of purple if they even remotely travel as well as they did last year. Overall, it was a decent place to schmooze with fellow fans and drink.
