I heard Adam Kraus was moving into LG and Mark Bihl was going to play center.

Weird. Didn't think anyone would displace Hutch.

Gotta be ready for next year in case Jansen goes pro early.

You're channeling your inner N.W.A.?

I don't think there is any question that weak interior line play has caused serious issues (especially the last two games, leading to at least a couple key turnovers). I think this issue, more than Garnder's decision-making, will be the difference maker this year moving forward. So I think it's a good idea to give some other guys a chance, mix it up, rather than wait for a leaky line to 'gel' when the evidence suggests that will not happen. Given the overall lack of experience at these positions, however, it is hard to be optimistic that there is an easy fix.
September 30th, 2013 at 6:13 PM ^
The couch coach in me would separate the decision like this: if its something that can be fixed with analysis, game film and split-second decision making then the existing lineup is well to continue and try to refine.
The issue of physical dominance has been brought up specifically around center and it might be an idealogical departure from the (daily?) emphasis on proper techniques and fundamentals to bring in a bigger body which might be more raw so to speak in terms of refinement.
I think it will be OK either way. Even getting a few new characters on game film gives some new things for the coaches to dissect and evaluate. I'm sure they have film of practices too and spend a lot of time analyzing that as well.
To go random: I like the fact that both the offense and defense can be "on fire" at different times. While of course I'd like a repeat of years gone by (97?) where both achieved that consistently but it speaks to the potential that's out there and I believe it can be brought to consistency with time.
Another random thought: I too get sucked into the hype surrounding recruiting and pictures of Ben Braden looking extremely massive but realize its about probabilities eventually, which get better with seniority in the program, learning the system, and the physical development from the strength program.

What? Taken literally, we've been playing like a 5-8 team the last few weeks. In almost any remaining game on the schedule we won't win if we play like we did against Akron and UConn. How this escapes other users/fans mystifies me.
This blows my mind: Michigan needed a final-seconds-of-the-game goal-line stand to beat Akron. This team has looked pathetic the last two weeks, and we've seen that Notre Dame isn't close to as good as we thought they were. They look bad too.

to say that RichRod was a bad fit, the alumni never gave him a fair shake, and that I like Dave Brandon? Just wondering how many sacred cows we can butcher now that apparently all hell has broke loose. While I am at it, MANBALL can work, Alabam has proven it. Borges is the weak link, and we don't all need to bow at the feet of Brian/Mods/or groupthink just to be able to make a comment on the board. The end consumer ulltimately decides if a product survives. So why the hell do people walk on eggshells, like they are afraid of getting kicked out of the MGocult.
September 30th, 2013 at 10:17 PM ^
Pretty sure no one is walking on eggshells. People are pretty vocal when they are unhappy with how things are going around here.

There sure seems to be much more group think going on among the people who claim there's some sort of MgoCult, etc.

If Borges refuses to use the read-option (which Devin excels) to open up the passing game, then I am wrong. But I do have confidence the coaching staff knows what the hell they are doing.
I freely admit the staff probably underestimated Akron and UConn, but we are 4-0 and getting ready to open B1G play against a Minnesota team that was manhandled by a poor Iowa squad.

40 yards effortlessly. Fitz needs to follow his blockers (read: Lewan) better. Fitz's run game opens up if we take care of the football, throw short slants (Funchess all day) and read-option with DG.
I'm hoping the coaches see so much explosiveness in Devin's running ability they have tried to keep it under wraps for as long as possible. That's my story anyway... Stickin' to it! =)
Mark me down as wait and see... Not ready to sack Georges Borges just yet.

Interesting that Hoke chose to mention Bosch. No mention of Kugler.
If we assume the coaches agree Miller is the main problem, then that would mean Glasgow gets a shot at center. Bosch burns his redshirt in a backup role.
Regardless, the reality is that if they are going to start playing Bryant, they need to do it now, three weeks before MSU.
