Those VT helmets are awful.

not stress free if you're betting on the games.

I totally understand, unless we weren't convinced by the same dude to take Iowa State and the points.
In any case, if this is Georgia Tech's second turnover of the quarter, this might be a long game for them.
September 26th, 2013 at 7:55 PM ^
I think VT caught a break there.

Already week 5. By the time we figure out why we can't run the ball, the season's going to be half over. It's easier to be a hockey or basketball fan, at least they play a lot of games. Football is just one big tease

Vad Lee may not get the chance to do a lot of accurate throwing if their OL is going to vaporize like that all evening.
That being said, Georgia Tech has actually outgained the Hokies to this point in the game.

As everybody and their brother is going uniformz, "old school" is actually getting trendy.
Growing up in PA, I remember when Penn State's plain white unis were a bit of an embarassment to PSU fans, The attitude was it was something that Paterno insists on, but when he leaves they will be modernized to catch up with the rest of the world. Now they are considered downright trendy.
That's the beauty of Michigan's unis . . . they are old school and slick at the same time.

At this juncture in the game, the only non-Logan Thomas offensive yardage gained by Virginia Tech would be the 2 yards gained by Demitri Knowles. It's been good for a 14-0 Virginia Tech lead, however.

I'm glad I bet on Georgia Tech. I am the worst gambler on the planet. I should maybe consider quitting.

At least you didn't take Michigan to cover the spread the last 2 weeks. I blame Brian for his 62-0 prediction 2 weeks ago! (/s)

According to this:
Devin Gardner is on the list as "current" at the Academy. Interestingly, so are both starting QBs in this game as well.

Didn't realize Logan Thomas was still QB at VT. His stats seem to have regressed compared to previous years, although 5-26 against 'Bama will severely hurt the stat line.

Agree. I thought his potential was unlimited after seeing him against us. But he hasn't be very consistent this year...lots of INT's, some against less-than-stellar opponents.
September 26th, 2013 at 9:17 PM ^
VT had either three or four of their OL from that Sugar Bowl team drafted by the NFL. That probably had something to do with his play in that game.

As they say: "He's got all the physical tools". He's tall, has an arm, and he can run it. He just doesn't play quarterback particularly well. This will not prevent the Raiders or Jets for trading up to take him in the 1st round next year
Though, an argument could be made that it's a decent investment since Virginia Tech has been offensively deficient forever. He could maybe be molded into a decent QB

Probably have heard enough about Whitfield on ESPN for a couple of decades.

Tonight is not a night for football since my wife and kids hijacked the TV for the Big Bang Theory season premiere. However, a glass of Flor de Cana on the rocks with a lime wedge is a nice way to mellow out.

To run a 2 minute offense
September 26th, 2013 at 10:45 PM ^
Offense looks great against bad teams but good teams have it pretty well figured out and when they get down, there's little hope of coming back.

GT has been and will be inconsistent as long as Paul Johnson is the coach. Their defense actually looked good, but the offense is just stupid. The triple option had it's day, and is still effective against shaky defenses, but it's just not very flexible and takes way too much time. It's too bad, Georgia Tech has some deep football tradition. With their roster, they'd be smart to pluck an Oregon assistant.

has the best W/L record of any coach Tech's had in the last 50 years. He's third all-time there behind Heisman and Bobby Dodd.

GT has a QB with a great arm... It's too bad he ran for his life the entire game when he dropped back to pass.
