following this story from yesterday on CNN, this does not look good at all

Yeah, it'd be cruel and unusual to keep a guy around the Lions franchise all day, every day.
This was all divine intervention for Tebow's glorious return to football prominence. Gronk's out for at least a while, Welker is gone, Hernandez may be doing 25 to life behind bars, Lloyd is gone. Tebow is primed to become the savior of the Pats.
Someone up there must really want Tebow to have his shot.
Tebow could have had his shot at Hback TE any time he wanted. It took getting released, no team with any interest in him as a QB and several injury arrests for him to wisen up.. that is assuming he now understand this is his only shot.

Bad stretch for Patriots TE's. The other 4 on the roster might want to take some preventive measures before they go the way of Iowa Running Backs.

The fact is, nobody in Gainesville is totally shocked that Hernandez seems to be a person of interest in a homicide probe. Especially not Johnson, the man who is famous for not only representing UF athletes but making their troubles disappear into the legal limbo land of dropped charges and deferred prosecutions. When Urban Meyer coached in Gainesville, we media cynics used to call Johnson the most valuable member of UF's staff even though he doesn't actually work for the Gators. Even so, he was Meyer's ingenious and innovative "defensive coordinator" because he was so effective at defending some of the Urbanator's gun-toting, bar-fighting miscreants and malcontents. Some athletes just always seem to find trouble, and Hernandez was certainly one of them at UF. It started in his freshman season when he was arrested after getting into a fight with a bouncer at a bar near campus. He was a juvenile then and got off with a slap on the wrist. According to the Sporting News, Hernandez also had some controlled-substance issues and was suspended for failed drug tests later in his tenure at UF. Hernandez was among four Gator football players questioned in a 2007 shooting incident in Gainesville. None of the players was arrested, but detectives questioned them about the shootings of Corey Smith and Justin Glass on the Sunday morning after Florida lost to Auburn in 2007. According to a Orlando Sentinel report at the time, police said Smith, 28, and Glass, 19, were driving around in traffic about 2:30 a.m. when a man began shooting into their car. Smith was critically wounded in the head while Glass was shot in the arm. Hernandez declined to discuss the case with reporters back then and was never charged with any crime.
Nice work Urbs.
Interesting, I didn't know all of that. Kind of makes you wonder why the Pats drafted him in the first place; I thought NFL teams did pretty extensive character evaluations on players they consider drafting.

The Patriots forgot to put a failure to preform clause in his contract, so he will still get his guaranteed money.

I guess it is the ex-Patriot. ESPN is reporting that Hernandez has been released.
Less than two hours following his arrest, Hernandez was released by the Patriots, who initially announced the transaction on their Twitter account before formalizing it in an official statement.
Half a dozen other people reported the same thing on this thread, and someone downvotes me.
Is there a way to tell who downvoted me. Sometimes the pettiness on this board is over the top.
There. I +1'd you. All better.
Thanks, Jericho....put the Prozac back in the medicine cabinet.

CJK5H... FYI
If it is true that he was involved in the murder, then Hernandez joins Rae Carruth, Jayson Williams and OJ as the 'dumbest mother fuckers ever'.
Tossing away $40 million dollars to take away another man's life is insane.
Insane enough to murder someone else. Add $40 million on top of that. Plus, public scorn and the hate of his fiancee's family.
Such a stupid and sensless act likely has the most petty motive.
Yeah, but he got to keep it real and show everyone what a tough thug and gangsta he is. Fucking moron.
plus 5 gun related charges.
