Shane Morris to wear the famed #7 jersey, J.J. McGrath #46
Per twitter. Quite a number for QBs-
Leach
Henson
Henne
And who could forget the great Spencer Brinton?
EDIT: MOAR jersey numbers per twitter. Incoming kicker J.J. McGrath will wear #46. Really great to see a large contingent of local kids coming to Michigan. Morris from DLS, McGrath from Lutheran North, Hockey's Evan Allen from Henry Ford.
I still remember the press conference like it was yesterday. I wanted to kick Steinbrenners ass so bad. He was laughing saying he payed football back for taking John Elway. Im glad Henson at least took his 20 mill and stunk it up over there.
Does anyone know the stats for win-lose versus Ohio with quarterbacks wearing 7. Chad we all know was 0-4. How did the others fare?
Leach was 3-1
Henson 2-0 (kinda, I think he only started the 2000 game but I can't remember)
Bonus: FB Chris Floyd 3-1
Leach was 3-1-0 and Henson was 2-1.
Courtesy of MWolverine.com, we also find that Leach, Henson and Henne combine for a 2-2 record against Notre Dame (this is more for historical note, considering the current state of that rivalry) and 8-1 versus Michigan State. Some great names, and per the MLive story, Morris will keep the number when Gardner moves on.
FWIW, I've gathered as many freshman jersey numbers as I can:

THANKS
I've made the new phone app available to everyone but you. Sorry.
I love how it has a separate section for hot chicks, and then the work/wife safe section with just the recruiting news and such.
Aw, shucks. What can I say? I'm a real innovator.
My friend is Derrick Green's art teacher. He said he will keep #27 at Michigan. She got him to sign a ball for me. Just FYI for anyone who cares about jersey numbers.
EDIT: And then I decided to not be lazy and read the post directly above mine. Oops, redundant.
That would be an interesting conversation to have in art class.
"Hey Derrick, can I see you for a minute at my desk?"
(He walks over, uncertain of the reason. Other students assume he's busted.)
"Ms _______, I promise, my papier-maché mask is almost done!"
"So . . . what jersey number are you going to wear next year?"
I had to call in alot of favors to get her to do this. She said she never felt as unprofessional asking a student to autograph memorabilia after class.
I really hope that he only pushes Gardner if it's because Shane is advanced and picking up the offense quickly, offers more to the team....if it's because Gardner isn't performing, we may be in for a sad 2013 season.
We know what Gardner is capable of doing in Borges' offense, and it's pretty damn good. If Morris is pushing him as a freshman, then I'm extremely excited for the next 4-5 years.
Reports? Considering Morris hasn't participated in one official Michigan practice yet, I'm not sure how much credence to give that other than wishful thinking. Do we even know if he's physically recovered completely from the mono he had last fall?
The only way Shane Morris doesn't redshirt this season is if Devin Gardner gets hurt. I'm praying it doesn't happen.
That's not good news, because that means Gardner must be terrible.
Morris isn't going to be a good college QB right off the bat.
Waded thru the W0RST THREAD HIGHJACK EVER
...but am grateful to post in support of Rick Leach's #7 being once again worn by a Michigan QB.Who knows, maybe by the time Adidas starts making them the build quality will be worth replacing my Henne-era Nike versions with.
