Beilein, Saving Private Ryan connection
So he's second cousins with the real life Private Ryan? That's an actually cool story (bro?).
Thanks for sharing this.
What a family history. The sacrifices that people of that generation made (and their refusal to complain about them) are unimaginable.
Tom Izzo scoffs at that generation.
I put this on the front page of MGo last week in Dear Diary. But sure, if Wetzel wrote about it...
There's a Band of Brothers connection too. Fritz and Tommy were good friends with Warren "Skip" Muck (who died in the Battle of the Bulge). According to Lt. Winters's book, when Muck tells the story of swimming the Niagara River it was actually Fritz and Beilen's uncle who did that with him.
The Niland family has a lot of basketball coaches. Tom was AD at Le Moyne and part of the NCAA council that gave SMU the death penalty.
what you do in that situation is edit the original response to something on topic before someone replies to it, thereby locking it forever. Of course, by replying to your own comment, you locked it yourself.
