OT: Lions-Saints Playoff Game Open Thread
OK, this other games sucks, so get all your positive Lion talk in now, since not being able to hold a 2nd string QB to under 40 has probably killed any chance of seeing the Lions win their second playoff game in most of our lifetimes. At least I'm not still in New Orleans for it.

You cant stop that... unstoppable throw and catch
January 7th, 2012 at 8:58 PM ^
to use the Lions in Madden next year
January 7th, 2012 at 9:02 PM ^
When the Saints sell out on coverage, they REALLY sell out on coverage.
Just keep dropping eight and leaving most everyone reasonably open, New Orleans. We don't mind.

wright is playing physical today
January 7th, 2012 at 9:05 PM ^
tackiling again!
January 7th, 2012 at 9:05 PM ^
Tulloch again.
January 7th, 2012 at 9:05 PM ^
horrible attempts at tackling there by the lions
January 7th, 2012 at 9:05 PM ^
There's no reason Thomas should have gotten more than 12 yards.
January 7th, 2012 at 9:05 PM ^
WRAP UP ON THE GOD DAMN TACKLES. STOP HEADBUTTING PEOPLE!
January 7th, 2012 at 9:05 PM ^
Pierre Thomas is tearin it up. There needs to be a holding called on the Saints at some point
January 7th, 2012 at 9:06 PM ^
Why do our lbs continually tackle with their helmets and not their arms?
January 7th, 2012 at 9:07 PM ^
That is a fumble! Arm was not going forward. Not sure how that works with the whistle. It did blow right?
January 7th, 2012 at 9:07 PM ^
GREAT JOB by the Lions to still get the ball even though there was a whistle!!!!
January 7th, 2012 at 9:07 PM ^
If the Saints don't hold, we should be hitting Brees on every down.
January 7th, 2012 at 9:07 PM ^
the whistle while the ball was still on the ground
January 7th, 2012 at 9:07 PM ^
That would have been a td if they didn't blow the whistle. Why'd they blow the whistle again???
January 7th, 2012 at 9:08 PM ^
I don't get how it was ruled a fumble and yet was still blown dead. Should be 21-7
January 7th, 2012 at 9:08 PM ^
I'm wondering the same thing. Wtf?
<br>
January 7th, 2012 at 9:07 PM ^
play THROUGH the whistle is the way to go these days
January 7th, 2012 at 9:07 PM ^
Kill shot. Right now.
January 7th, 2012 at 9:07 PM ^
Gotta make them pay
January 7th, 2012 at 9:08 PM ^
They should have kept running!
January 7th, 2012 at 9:10 PM ^
The rule is that even if the whistle blows.... if it is ruled a fumble on the play...then it is a live ball and the recovering team gets possesion on that spot but cant advance it *since the whistle blew
This happened earlier this year either to the Lions or maybe Michigan...i forget but the team did not pick up the ball and just left it laying there... which was bad.
January 7th, 2012 at 9:09 PM ^
actually a fumble we just got robbed of a defensive TD by an early whistle
January 7th, 2012 at 9:12 PM ^
that is the truest way to look at it.. defense gets fked out of a return because the back judge or someone thought it was an incompletion and blew it dead
January 7th, 2012 at 9:09 PM ^
Lions offense is as good as the Saints.
Our defensive front four is better than any of the rest in the league.
We're going to win.
January 7th, 2012 at 9:11 PM ^
You son of a bitch if you've jinxed this...
January 7th, 2012 at 9:13 PM ^
weeks ago.
January 7th, 2012 at 11:04 PM ^
And you have been wrong for weeks.
January 7th, 2012 at 9:10 PM ^
"Yep. We saw it as a fumble on the field. Oh, why did we blow the whistle? Because we saw it as an imcomplete pass."
I hate all refs everywhere.*
*Other than the replay official at the Sugar Bowl.
January 7th, 2012 at 9:11 PM ^
Can't capitalize on that turnover. That was no good. Screwed by an early whistle there. That's huge
January 7th, 2012 at 9:11 PM ^
lets make them punt now
January 7th, 2012 at 9:11 PM ^
Not good. Gotta capitalize on opportunities like that against this offense. Can't rely on the refs.
January 7th, 2012 at 9:12 PM ^
The ref cost us 7 points. Unbelievable how many different ways the Lions can get screwed.
January 7th, 2012 at 9:12 PM ^
and we did not get a single point.
Got to capitalize!
January 7th, 2012 at 9:13 PM ^
What's new? The refs suck!!! 21-7
January 7th, 2012 at 9:15 PM ^
It's frustrating to know it too
January 7th, 2012 at 9:14 PM ^
My heart dropped into my stomach there. I thought the refs were gonna give the fans that unnecessary roughness call.
January 7th, 2012 at 9:16 PM ^
the Saints receiver would've had a chance at the tackle had he not stopped playing at the whistle. I was pissed at first too but the replay shows all the Saints players stopped.
January 7th, 2012 at 9:18 PM ^
Ok, at the very worst. 17-7.
January 7th, 2012 at 9:16 PM ^
Can't believe the Saints line can't get called for holding or hands to the face ever. That was particularly gratuitous against Corey there.
January 7th, 2012 at 9:17 PM ^
Sooo many holds by the Saints OL. Also, TACKLE THE FUCKING BALLCARRIER!!
January 7th, 2012 at 9:20 PM ^
New Orleans is coming up with some crazy catches.
And that was a crap defensive holding call
January 7th, 2012 at 9:20 PM ^
Would have just contributed to the off-setting penalties there, but it was ridiculous. Held up Fairley and then took out his legs. Textbook 15-yarder that didn't get called.
January 7th, 2012 at 9:23 PM ^
It was about as obvious as you'll see. Granted, it would have been included in the offsetting fouls. But still, you've gotta at least make the call.
January 7th, 2012 at 9:21 PM ^
can we stop them on third and short? Where's Mattison when you need him?
January 7th, 2012 at 9:23 PM ^
Too bad the answer changes on fourth down
January 7th, 2012 at 9:22 PM ^
I didn't see either of the calls the actually made, and they missed a blatant chop block.
