As long as Brian finishes every answer about RichRod with "Hoke Uber Alles", he'll be fine.

I swear if any of you are in ann arbor and miss any of the basketball tomorrow to go to this you aren't michigan fans, just michigan football fans, there won't be a lot of students because of finals and if 100k can suck it up and watch eastern and western to support the football team you can take a couple hours on saturday and go to the basketball team. please and thank you.
December 16th, 2011 at 2:51 PM ^
May go get my book signed afterwards though.
December 16th, 2011 at 2:54 PM ^
...or maybe some of us have better ways to spend our time/money this time of year.

It's cool that you only like michigan football joeyb, i don't have a problem with that, just don't claim to be a michigan fan. Also it was more of a plea to get our basketball attendance up since it is kind of sad and pathetic, it's cool if people go afterwards I'm saying i'd be dissapointed in someone that only goes to the book signing and not the basketball game.

If its a Money issue come on man. Tickets are on stubhub starting at just 2 bucks. Come on out and support the boys.

I'll be working tomorrow, but I have to go into town to run some errands. I just get very touchy when any person questions another person's fanhood. I wasn't defending myself, but other people who might not be able to go for one reason or another.

I question a lot of michigan fans fandom because of the disparity between passion about the football team and basketball team. I know there aren't a ton of schools that have fans that do both well, I just think michigan has the fan base that could. It pisses me off to see ohio have a packed basketball arena and go to the ohio game last year when they were ranked top 5 and we were on our upswing and see the top bowl half empty. Wisco another top 10 team was only slightly more full. Those two games plus a third could be purchased for $30 dollars for all 3 games last year. The support from the fanbase for the basketball team is pathetic and don't use the penalties as an exuse, it was over a decade ago.

Do you go to all of the Hockey games? Soccer? Baseball? Field Hockey? Gymnastics? Wresling? Lacrosse? If not, by your logic, you're not a Michigan fan; you're a Michigan Football and Michigan Basketball fan.
Drawing the line at sports that you support is extremely arbitrary and hypocritical. Just because they choose not to go to the sports that you enjoy doesn't mean that they are any less of a Michigan fan than you or anyone else.
December 17th, 2011 at 1:05 PM ^
Actually while its impossible to go to all the games I have been to mens and womens soccer games, hockey games, wrestling matches and a lacrosse game every year i've been in school. Beyond that however that is a truly asinine comment, there are two sports that matter nationally and create perceptions of your fanbase and those are basketball and football. Being from maryland I can tell you the perception the michigan fanbase is an entitled wine and cheese crowd that only cares about football. Half empty arenas for a team in the running for an ncaa tourny spot against top 10 teams kind of prove that perception right.

ridicules. M Softball is the first (and only) team east of the Mississippi River to win a NC. We win the B1G regularly and have a highly ranked team. I try to go to as many games as possible. But if it is snowing out, I do not go. Many softball parents do not go. So are the parents considered "Not real" Michigan fans? I think not.
Everyone has priorities. I would not expect every basketball game to be sold out. Football is our passion. It has been for 132 years. I would expect us to sell out big BB games against ohio and lil bro and the occasional high ranked team such as Duke, NC, Ks or Ky.
I would also expect the same for LAX, soccer, softball/baseball, and women's basketball too.

applying school specific view points to an over-arching attitude about sports in the country. Even the most dedicated sports fan may or may not go to mens or womens soccer games, no matter who's playing. Why? Because not many Americans like soccer. Its a specific sport liked by specific types of people. Same with hockey...I LOVE hockey, and I would go to more of their games if I could. But I realize that its not everybody's favorite sport. Same with a sport like swimming...I was a swimmer in college, love going to meets, but unless you're a swimmer, you won't really get a lot out of it (outside of the Olympics). There's little appreciation of the sport. Football and basketball are more widely appreciated, so you'll find more fans of those sports. Its not an indictment of anyone's fandom, its the popularity of the sport.
Since when are 'wine and cheese' crowds the type that like football? Football fans are more typically 'beer and brats' type of fans. If you want wine and cheese, go bark up the fencing or the equestrian trees.

Isn't that kinda...weird...to be signing someone else's book? (Book signing are hard in the internet age, aren't they? "Sign my Kindle")
Though truth be told, it might be worth it if you signed the page where you tear Rosenberg a new one.
December 16th, 2011 at 3:01 PM ^
Brian is mentioned in the book, soooo...
December 16th, 2011 at 4:09 PM ^
Going to get him to sign it too? Just think it's strange to sign a book someone else wrote, that isn't even about you. There are lots of people mentioned in the book. They're not going to book signings, and I wouldn't ask them to sign it. Just...strange. He's out promoting Bacon's book...is he at least getting some beveled guilt from Bacon?
December 16th, 2011 at 4:24 PM ^
Where did Brian say he'd be signing as well?
December 16th, 2011 at 4:35 PM ^
But why show up then? Moral support?
I mean, if it was just to hang out and talk Michigan, he could do that at any bar in town, and attract his own crowd. Why go to another guy's book signing to hang out? That was the question. Which was then inferred, because he was in the book.

causes Michigan to lose and may constitute unfaithfulness to the program and its present leadership. It can also lead to cataracts or unsatisfying bowel movements or both.

to hearing Bacon at the UM Alumni Club of Indianapolis Holiday Party next Tuesday!

So you don't want to talk about RR unless you are talking about an entire book about RR.

I had never actually seen/heard one of those commercials that you see parodied (e.g. Simpson's Truckasaurus episode) with the heavy use of reverb until now. I assumed that they were merely urban legends but am pleased to discover that they are truly as assinine as portrayed.
One more item I can check off on my bucket list.
