Memphis in early foul trouble against Tennessee. This team continues to look very poorly coached. Hopefully, they can pull these next two games out so our win still looks good.

Here we go again, rich rod said he needs to study up on Arizona history LOL. But recoverd very well.

Nine minutes to go in the half and Memphis already has more points than they scored in the first half against M. 35 vs 31.

Halftime score looks like an average final score in a Michigan game.

Memphis on a big run. They finally look like the team that they should be. Lots of takeaways and scoring on the resulting faast break. Tennessee looks shaken. We'll see how the rest of the game plays out.

What is the format for the tournament? Judging by their bracket, it looks like an 8-team swiss tournament, but I don't think I've ever actually seen that used in sports before.

Thats basically it. You play a team that has the same W-L as you in the same order. So if we win tonight we obviously go to the champ game, and if we lose, we play the loser of the other semifinal. Its done that way so every team gets to play three games after making the trip.

You are correct (and also just taught me what a Swiss bracket is). I like the format a lot better though, just because you know going in, that you are going to get a set number of games (3)
It's also probably a little easier to schedule flights, hotels and the like knowing you won't be leaving early

Well Tennessee's game is a lot more similar to Memphis' style. When Memphis is free to play their way and let those athletes loose, they're goimg to run over a lot of teams

Memphis has put 55 on the board already In the first half and only scored 61 total against us. Michigan's coaching and defense is legit.
November 22nd, 2011 at 3:12 PM ^
Michigan teams under Fisher. Lots of talent, but not much of any system or structure to the offense and defense. That's why Beilein coached circles around the Memphis "Arizona Mafia" staff yesterday. Michigan will continue to get better and better this year IMO.

Memphis really is terribly coached. Someone remind me of this when they're a 2 or 3 seed after destroying CUSA.
November 22nd, 2011 at 3:57 PM ^
It's like they don't even want to win. How do you fly down the court and immediately turn it over with an eight point lead and five minutes left?
November 22nd, 2011 at 4:09 PM ^
Memphis up 2 With 23 ticks left
November 22nd, 2011 at 4:10 PM ^
On the other hand, I think Tennessee made a good hire. I like what I've seen from them in both games, even if they both end up losses.

memphis and tennessee go into overtime.
November 22nd, 2011 at 4:12 PM ^
Live by the Speed, Die by the speed, I guess. Let's go Memphis, I want a Quality win on the UM resume
November 22nd, 2011 at 4:18 PM ^
I don't like the way those memphis players were running their mouths yesterday and during practice about/to Michigan. Michigan made em look like a bunch of dumbasses with that "They won't make enough 2s to beat us" comment one of the memphis players made last week. But if them winning helps Michigan, fine with me.
November 22nd, 2011 at 4:21 PM ^
Length of this game probably delays our start a bit. Boo.
November 22nd, 2011 at 4:24 PM ^
vols lead tigers 91-89 in OT with a little over a minute left in the overtime.
EDIT: memphis just tied it at 91 up with a layup. 17.8 seconds left, tennessee ball.
November 22nd, 2011 at 4:25 PM ^
Tie game with what should be one more possession in OT. For once in your lives, play some defense...
November 22nd, 2011 at 4:25 PM ^
Thats the way. 2OT
November 22nd, 2011 at 4:26 PM ^
Going into a second overtime. vols had a chance at the end of the period to tie it up but it was a failed play. 91-91.
November 22nd, 2011 at 4:33 PM ^
Good double OT game going on. Plus the Man U game is on the other computer
Sports overload :|
November 22nd, 2011 at 4:33 PM ^
So much for that early statement. I guess we will have to make it against Duke
November 22nd, 2011 at 4:36 PM ^
For such an athletic team, Memphis gets murdered on the boards...
November 22nd, 2011 at 4:36 PM ^
Aside from kentucky, does anyone in the SEC actually give a shit about basketball? That doesn't include the fairweathers that mysteriously show up with a jersey on when their school's team starts doing well.
November 22nd, 2011 at 4:44 PM ^
Traveling in final seconds, wow
November 22nd, 2011 at 4:43 PM ^
HAHAHAHAHA. How do you travel there???? How can anyone root for this team for a whole season? This game was horrible for me.
November 22nd, 2011 at 4:42 PM ^
WOW. memphis thought they had the game won 99-97, but they got called with a traveling violation. tennessee ball....
November 22nd, 2011 at 4:42 PM ^
Memphis is so horribly undisciplined. They won the game, and the guy traveled while celebrating, giving UT another chance.
November 22nd, 2011 at 4:44 PM ^
And they lost a point in one of the overtimes due to a lane violation on their own free throw. Such horrible mistakes in a double overtime game.
November 22nd, 2011 at 4:43 PM ^
Memphis wins, good game
November 22nd, 2011 at 4:44 PM ^
memphis hangs on and beats tennessee 99-97 in 2OT. They will play the winner of georgetown/chaminade for 5th place tomorrow.
chaminade/georgetown is starting right after this game.
November 22nd, 2011 at 5:23 PM ^
In the second consolation game, georgetown leads chaminade 16-13 early in the first.
November 22nd, 2011 at 10:34 PM ^
they will play the loser of UCLA/KU rit?
