Enough with the gimmicks.
FITZ IS OPTION TWO.
November 5th, 2011 at 1:27 PM ^
Fitz has been unstoppable and apparently the coaching staff is averse to success on the ground. D. Robinson is not a QB and yet he could be servicable if the game plan took into consideration his limitations. Lets start with removing any plays where DR is in the pocket and focus on short high percentage throws.
Give the ball to Fitz Toussaint fergodsakes!!!
November 5th, 2011 at 1:30 PM ^
This is O is about the equivalent of putting Shaq at the 3 pt line all game.
November 5th, 2011 at 1:31 PM ^
Excellent us of fergodsakes
November 5th, 2011 at 1:27 PM ^
Borges has turned Denard into a non-factor on Offense. Great play calling
November 5th, 2011 at 1:27 PM ^
How about some zone read with Fitz and Denard? We finally have a guy who has proven himself as a RB. Keep it simple and go shotgun all second half.
November 5th, 2011 at 1:30 PM ^
I saw them run that and the midline to effect. I also saw the ZR not work once-the DE did somethig tricky- but yea I'd like to see more of it too
November 5th, 2011 at 1:28 PM ^
I'd love for the DG-Dernard sets to work too. They aren't. Iowa is smart defensively and not fooled by any of this.
Plus, as now many posters have observed, these sets are KILLING DERNARDS RHYTHM!!! Why not let him stay at QB and get into the flow of it after completions, his biggest run...
Let's do the 2-qb stuff up big. We have a game to win here. We can't be so automaton on O and non-instinctive. Borges has to turn off computer game and let a flow happen.
Noticed Hawthorne in there later and no Morgan. Let's see if the O can pick it up and stay a bit simpler in the 2nd. D I'm not too worried about.
2 BS calls too, PI and the 'fumble'. And what did Lewan do for his personal, hit helmet-to-helmet?
November 5th, 2011 at 1:28 PM ^
sub patterns...other than that,unleash Denard!
November 5th, 2011 at 1:30 PM ^
Second half is still to be played. Sound like a bunch of espn board posters...
November 5th, 2011 at 1:30 PM ^
I guess they want him to keep looking to pass but my goodness how many yards/scores could he have now by tucking and running?
November 5th, 2011 at 1:32 PM ^
has been stopped by our opposition the last few weeks. Give it to Fitz
November 5th, 2011 at 1:37 PM ^
I'm talking about him continuing to look down field instead of running it on pass plays.
November 5th, 2011 at 1:33 PM ^
When he has open field in front of him he's not taking advantage of it. We've been spoiled with his running over time and for some reason he's just not getting it done on the ground as much.
November 5th, 2011 at 1:39 PM ^
made a point with him to continue to for the pass rather than run when nothing is open. You gotta let Denard be Denard. He could have scored there before half instead of trying to make a tough throw.
November 5th, 2011 at 1:35 PM ^
We look scared to win. It's a shame. If state goes on to lose and we blow this opportunity it'll be a familiar feeling and a bottle of cheap whiskey.
November 5th, 2011 at 1:30 PM ^
Yes manball would work today. Run it up the middle.
November 5th, 2011 at 1:32 PM ^
Iowa doesn't have depth on the D-line an do not substitute. Why aren't we waring them down?
November 5th, 2011 at 1:32 PM ^
Denard has the second most interceptions of any QB in college football. There is no way in hell we win our division with that kind of QB play. It's so frustrating that we can't throw the f'in ball downfield.
November 5th, 2011 at 1:34 PM ^
unknown reason... Borges thinks that Joe Montana is our Quarterback.
November 5th, 2011 at 1:32 PM ^
Al Borges' cell phone: [ring ring ring]
Al Borges: hi, Dad
Al Borges' Dad: SON WTF LET DENARD AND FITZ RUN OR I WILL PUT YOU IN A HEADLOCK WITH MY AWESOMELY-OILED PECS
Al Borges: okay, Dad. Sorry for the first half.
Al Borges' Dad: DO BETTER IN THE SECOND HALF OR YOU'RE UNINVITED FROM THANKSGIVING. YOUR MOM IS MAKING PIE.
November 5th, 2011 at 1:35 PM ^
Thanks Mr. Borges for making the phone call for us. Checks in the mail.
November 5th, 2011 at 1:33 PM ^
The previous 2 games vs Iowa, Michigan's offense managed ONE td in the first half
November 5th, 2011 at 1:35 PM ^
46 yards at 5.1 yards a carry. Why does Borges not stick with whats working? Seems odd to me, kinda like Fitz getting 2 carries against MSU.
Denard in the pocket = Death
November 5th, 2011 at 1:35 PM ^
Any reason that T. Gordon is benched for this one that I missed? I mean, he has been the starting satety in every game up to this point, and we've seen Woolfolk struggle. I don't know. Obviously the main problem is the offense. Denard does look tentative running, and I'm not sure that they have a good flow, other than Fitz up the middle. However, I guess I just don't get this one.
November 5th, 2011 at 1:35 PM ^
We needed points on that last drive. Any points at all. I'm deflated, yet furious and animated. More beer.
November 5th, 2011 at 1:39 PM ^
I am upset, yet drunk and hungry. We've made good adjustments for the second half before, let's hope it happens this time...
November 5th, 2011 at 1:37 PM ^
Play calling is the number one factor in first half blunders today . Al needs to step it up. It's almost as if he doesn't want Fitz to be the featured back.
November 5th, 2011 at 1:40 PM ^
They take Denard out after each positive play. That is just plain stupid.
November 5th, 2011 at 1:38 PM ^
We are going to lose today for the same reason we lost at MSU. Switching out QB's does not work
November 5th, 2011 at 1:40 PM ^
Nothing like the power of positive thinking.....
November 5th, 2011 at 1:42 PM ^
is that if we can get our head out of our ass, we'll be right back in it.
November 5th, 2011 at 1:41 PM ^
We are losing. We are down because we are not the most physical team. You're an asshat!!!
November 5th, 2011 at 1:41 PM ^
Defense NEEDS to come up huge to start the second half. Now or never.
November 5th, 2011 at 1:42 PM ^
Yeah, the defense needs to come up with some stops but we the offense needs to get into gear..
November 5th, 2011 at 1:41 PM ^
We come out shotgun and pick up the tempo. Denard runs, read options, power, and bomb down field (see Notre Dame). And we rally for a disappointing win. Theme of the season.
November 5th, 2011 at 1:43 PM ^
shotgun, X2
November 5th, 2011 at 1:42 PM ^
this reminds me of the brady/henson years.
they kept taking brady out to put the new hotshot in.
it cost us two games IIRC.
it infuriated me then, as it does now with DG/DR...
November 5th, 2011 at 1:46 PM ^
I know what your saying but Coach Borgess is not a spread guy. Denard is not a pocket guy. It's a tough situation but I can see why Coach Borgess wants this to succeed. Devin needs to make it work, if it's going to happen...
November 5th, 2011 at 1:52 PM ^
Devin is not ready. He looks like a true freshmen. It's all over the stat screen, he's destroyed every drive he's come in on. It's crazy pills. Crazy pills.
November 5th, 2011 at 2:06 PM ^
We're about to find out...
November 5th, 2011 at 1:43 PM ^
November 5th, 2011 at 1:46 PM ^
YES!!! Good stop by the D!!!
November 5th, 2011 at 1:47 PM ^
That's huge. Defense has been huge for is this year. They've kept us in some games.
November 5th, 2011 at 1:47 PM ^
D looks sharp after half. Let's get the shit together on O.
November 5th, 2011 at 1:48 PM ^
November 5th, 2011 at 1:49 PM ^
Damn, Denard has insane acceleration.
November 5th, 2011 at 1:50 PM ^
If they take Denard out of this drive I am going to lose it.
November 5th, 2011 at 1:50 PM ^
It starts with him
November 5th, 2011 at 1:50 PM ^
Tha's the Denard we've come to know and love.
