Early Games Open Thread
Yeah, they mostly suck, but I need something to interest me in them and kill time before GAME time. And it'll start getting us in the swing of things to do this so I'll have a bitching late night game thread to come home to after the game with the GOOD games then.

.....warrants another beer.

Northwestern ties it up. I like the offense Fitzgerald runs, I still think he would have been a great fit at Michigan.
September 3rd, 2011 at 2:49 PM ^
His offense with Tate would have been deadly.
September 3rd, 2011 at 1:26 PM ^
.....about Akron holding their own. I'm calling this one at the half.
September 3rd, 2011 at 1:27 PM ^
Ohio will win this going away but they do not look nearly as athletic as past years.
September 3rd, 2011 at 1:29 PM ^
Miami is killing me in the redzone. Third trip, zero points. Just threw a INT in the end zone.
September 3rd, 2011 at 1:30 PM ^
Granted, it's eastern Tennessee Tech A&M agricultural university, or whoever, but Iowa is looking very very solid. Few obvious mistakes, even in lousy weather.
September 3rd, 2011 at 1:31 PM ^
Hopefully the Big Ten is just getting this out of our system before the late games start.

No doubt their QB is terrible. This is his first college start though and he makes it at Ohio. That would be a tough first start for anyone.
September 3rd, 2011 at 1:36 PM ^
Wait wait wait wait. Next week up till 7 pm is going to be hell.
September 3rd, 2011 at 1:38 PM ^
Yes it will. I swear the clock is slowing down the closer it gets to the game.
September 3rd, 2011 at 1:41 PM ^
Look at it this way: the early games are our version of the pre-game warmup.
September 3rd, 2011 at 1:53 PM ^
been dreading this since it was announced. way to impatient for night games.

I woke up at 9o'clock.. I've tried to pass the time by doing laundry, mowing the lawn, weed whacking, going on youtube, eating, taking a shower, and countless other things, but it's going so damn slow...

Connecticut 21, Fordham 0. 11:19 to go in the 3rd. Is it 3:30 PM yet?
September 3rd, 2011 at 1:50 PM ^
The Seven Blocks of Granite demand you respect their tradition.

September 3rd, 2011 at 1:54 PM ^
....right now, Paquin, Druze, Lombardi, etc....would fare a lot better out there.
September 3rd, 2011 at 1:49 PM ^
Auburn trying an early 4th down conversion. Instead they burn a timeout 2 minutes into the 2nd half.

September 3rd, 2011 at 1:53 PM ^
Neither Chizik nor Aurburn are really proven winers with the players they can get for free.
September 3rd, 2011 at 1:56 PM ^
Touchdown Northwestern, right out of the half. Great drive, they aren't going to be easy this season.
September 3rd, 2011 at 1:57 PM ^
Without Persa. That game vs. Them is looking more worrisome.
September 3rd, 2011 at 2:10 PM ^
September 3rd, 2011 at 2:56 PM ^
Well they also have some injuries also on defense and Montell Harris Ithere starting running back is hurt. The guy it close to breaking the acc rushing record. Big losses.
September 3rd, 2011 at 2:07 PM ^
3:30 needs to get here ASAP!!!

September 3rd, 2011 at 2:10 PM ^
What do you have against Urban Meyer?
September 3rd, 2011 at 2:14 PM ^
going to run out of grass and booze before the game starts at this rate
September 3rd, 2011 at 2:20 PM ^
Auburn recievers might say "I'm not payed to block." Fruedian slip much?
September 3rd, 2011 at 2:24 PM ^
Looks like Auburn has woken up at halftime. There goes any upset notion :(
September 3rd, 2011 at 2:33 PM ^
They have no chance in the SEC if they don't get that fixed.
September 3rd, 2011 at 2:40 PM ^
I spoke too soon, Utah State got a TD and retook the lead. Yeah, that D is pretty bad without Fairley.
September 3rd, 2011 at 2:41 PM ^
and there are missed tackles to boot once the runner gets past the first wave of defenders.
September 3rd, 2011 at 2:24 PM ^
Lloyd Brady just entered the big house. Go blue!

September 3rd, 2011 at 2:28 PM ^
Mizzou and NTMiami are still close. Just 10-6 Mizzou. Need them to keep that up.
September 3rd, 2011 at 2:29 PM ^
I hope auburn's 2010 season get's wiped out, then they'll have and if they lose this game, its just icing on the cake.
September 3rd, 2011 at 2:30 PM ^
...is now working on their November production of "Noh Theater, No Defense"
September 3rd, 2011 at 2:33 PM ^
Urban Meyer appears to be pretty impressed by his future QB
September 3rd, 2011 at 2:38 PM ^
The state of Utah is really punching over its weight class in college football. They seem to have three solid programs (Utah, BYU and USU) in a state that doesn't have much of a recruiting base. I guess they benefit from the NCAA exemption for Mormon missions, but still, it's pretty impressive.
September 3rd, 2011 at 2:46 PM ^
And there are plenty of schools nearby to recruit Utah kids away -- Pac 10/12 schools usually get a couple of highly ranked Utah kids a year.
September 3rd, 2011 at 2:40 PM ^
is it just me, or do alot of QBs have the #16 this year?
September 3rd, 2011 at 2:43 PM ^
Alright, time for OSU to go 3 and out, give up a cheap score, run down the clock, and NOT COVER.
September 3rd, 2011 at 2:46 PM ^
I hope Utah St. can hang onto this lead. All we need now is for Boise St. to lose.
September 3rd, 2011 at 2:50 PM ^
Not challenging you, I'm just curious... does it help Michigan in some way? Or is it assumed that we all hate Boise St?
September 3rd, 2011 at 3:21 PM ^
It will just put to rest the whole non-qualifier getting into the BCS discussion that we have had for the last couple seasons.
September 3rd, 2011 at 2:47 PM ^
Mizzou just had the first hard helmet to helmet call of the season. Whole stadium went "oooooooooooooooooooooooh". Still thought he lead with the shoulder.
