OT Tigers vs Twins 8/27/11
Verlander going for 20.
76 pitches through 4 not vintage Verlander especially in the 1st. Hope Tigers can put some runs on the board here, so the bullpen can mop up for 3 innings

After a double and single you got those runs you were looking for.

Yeah buddy. Good hustle on Raburn's part to get into 2nd and set up the 2nd run. I don't think his injury is severe, looks as if he jammed his finger on the SS knee

JV is getting tagged this inning.

2 big homers for the Twins could the lead to 4-2. Hard for the Twins or anybody for that matter to put runs up against Verlander without the use of the long ball.

for the Twins to put up runs on anybody

you see the bottom of the order giving JV this much trouble.

4 runs to a minor league lineup

Well that sucks. 4-4 after 6. Hopefully the O can bail Justin out and get him his 20th this afternoon

Big hit from Delmon. YES. Delmon got some Willie Horton in him. Got a similar build to Willie and even a somewhat similar batting style. I remember Willie being fidgety just like Delmon and neither was known for their defense.

nice for JV and the tigers to get a win on a day when he didn't have his best stuff.

I was at the game, and it was fantastic to hear the hopeless cries for verlander to get hurt, quit, etc as early as the first inning. Great for him to get 20.

I see you, JV

Is he really the 46th Tiger pitcher to record 20 wins? They said that at the end of the telecast. I can't believe they've had that many. (I assume they meant that it was the 46th 20-win season by a Tiger pitcher, but still.)

not by this list. Verlander makes 44 by my count, but many of them are duplicates. 23 different pitchers before Verlander won 20 at least once in a Tiger uniform. Many of the ancient MLB teams are in the same boat
