He really crushed that ball.

Inge could've thrown home, first, pretty much any base other than the one he went to.

Inge, man...

Isn't the play always at first there with 2 outs? Get the runner swinging with no leadoff?
What a shitty way to lose the game. Man that sucked. Get Fisted!

I think that's the normal play. He also could have just run over to third base.
Did he think there was only one out and they needed a double play?

I dont know why he didn't just tag the dude running directly towards him.

Any other base would've been an easy out as well. Just baffling...

zobrist was almost jogging. I'm pretty sure he thought he'd be out at home.

Only Inge would find a way to lose on a 2 out Fielder's Choice, which is impossible considering we didn't even get an out....

the irony of putting brandon inge in for defensive purposes...

another game blown by brandon inge

Inge typically aloof after the game when questioned by the media.
It's incredible to me that some still perceive him as a "good guy" and "team player." He is one of the least accountable professional athletes I have ever seen. A truly delusional dude.

Really? Why all the Inge bashing? It's pretty clear to me that had the second baseman actually broke to the bag when the ball was hit, we're all here talking about a game that continued on.
The easy play on that is second since it's the shorter throw. Yeah, he could have gone to first, but he didn't need to; the second baseman was obviously late getting to the bag.

Lot of things to account for here: Santiago playing deep at 2nd, runners on the move since its a 2 out 3-2 count, hard hit ball right at Inge, Santiago has a ways to run and locate the bag all while tracking the ball.
Ramon deserves some of the blame here, but 95% of that play in on Inge, he could easily run 5 steps to his right to 3rd or throw to 1st and beat the runner by multiple steps. It was going to be a bang-bang play at 2nd even if Ramon got a better jump to the bag, take an easier out.

It wasn't the worst mistake in the world, and yeah, Santiago could have gotten there sooner (thoiugh he may not have expected the throw) but second base was really the only risky option there for Inge. Any of the other four possible plays - stepping on third, throwing to first, throwing home or just tagging the runner - would have been an easy out.

he might have even been able to throw home
