OT: Ducks traffic stop update
Recall a few months ago Oregon CB Cliff Harris was pulled over after going 118 mph on an Oregon highway in a car that was rented in someone elses name...
New details emerged today that Ducks QB Darron Thomas was a passenger in the vehicle as well. Also an interesting quote about possible marijuana smell from the car.
Interesting Harris was suspended but not Thomas.

Now that this is public, I don't know how this cop can get away without being suspended. Nobody gives anyone a break anymore, and he will be seen as giving a favor to an athlete.

where do you live? cops give people breaks all the time

Seriously. I've been on a hot streak of warnings lately. I love early morning cops.

But seriously, no one would get a warning or any other kind of break for going 118, let alone having the car smell like weed, etc. (although once a Grand Rapids cop gave me a warning for going 102 because I said I was late for an interview, so maybe this isn't ridiculous)

The last thing I need is a break or breaks from cops......Signed Rodney King...

Mystery solved.

This has been all over the news out here (in Portland). From what I hear, the video posted above, the cop actually called his supe and asked what he should do. The big question now is whether these guys got some sort of preferential treatment. Ask yourself this question...
If I got pulled over for doing 118 (and more like 130+), I didn't have a licence, the car smelled like weed and it was rented by someone other than myself, would I expect to spend some time in jail?
Answer: Hell Yes!
I truly believe that there is something fishy going on here, but in the land of the "Ducks" this type of stuff just gets swept under the rug because there's someone who can foot the bill to keep this kind of stuff quiet...make your own judgements on who that might be. Maybe there's a little bit of JT hypocracy here too!?!

You can't get in trouble for your car smelling like weed (at least not in Michigan). If you just cruised a blunt and there's no roach, no weed, no paranaphelia, etc., you can't get in trouble. You're probably just gonna get hassled, get your car searched and be on your way.

If it were me, just an average joe, my ass would be in jail.
Oh, and that cop wouldn't have thought twice about searching my vehicle. (He didn't search the vehicle)
What I find funny is that the cop, in this circumstance, had to call someone and ask what he shuold do -- saying something like "I don't know what to do". How about you use your best moral judgement...you're a cop, afterall.

Portland local news last night said the smell of weed is not probable cause for search. Not sure if true, but that's what they reported.

oregon is a dirty program there's probably more stuff under the surface going on that we don't even know about

Station in Portland claims that Darron Thomas is 3 for 3. Indications are he has been a passenger on 3 separate occasions when another Ducks player has been pulled over and this is not the first time marijuana was suspected. Chip Kelly says he is and was aware of the situation - he knows the truth and there is nothing to worry about......good to know

to our "Oregon dossier." It looks like Portland's culture of big-time college sports corruption is maturing.

Is just called " a breeze" in Oregon.
