Nick Stauskas Unofficial Visit Solidifies Commitment
Chris Balas of TheWolverine.com provides us with this (non-paywalled) report of Nick Stauskas's just completed unofficial visit to Michigan. The visit was quite the success.
Stauskas arrived in town Sunday, a day before he was allowed to visit with the coaches. He received the campus tour the following day, watching video of recent games and renderings of the practice facility, wowed by the progress already made.
Following lunch with sophomore Tim Hardaway Jr., the Michigan coaches and others, Stauskas confirmed what many have believed for some time.
"I think everyone knows how good a fit I am for Michigan, and Michigan for me," he said. "Now it's even clearer with how much I love it."
The article then discusses his successes on the AAU circuit this summer and then details Stauskas's upcoming plans.
"I might got to New York for a bit and work out with Steve Nash. He's one of my good friends," Stauskas said of the NBA all-star and fellow Canadian. "I could got to Houston for a bit and work out with [Washington Wizards'] Mo Evans, who is also a friend. I got to know him at the NBA Players Camp in June. Stauskas will return to Ann Arbor in September for his official visit, either on the 17th or the 24th.
And yes, he's hoping his recruiting class is rounded out with the inclusion of one more recruit.
"If we can get [Rivals.com five-star big man] Mitch McGary, that's the cherry on top," he said. "Getting him would be unbelievable. I haven't talked to him - I'm just hoping somehow he ends up at Michigan."
So are we, Nick. So are we.
Name dropping is when, say, you tell somebody that Steve Nash was at a party you attended, or something like that.
When Steve Nash invites you to come to New York and work out (think "Team Canada") -- that's just stating a fact!
Oh hey, let me pick those up for you. You dropped a couple names back there.

Or you say "you know what? Sean Connery told me a story about name dropping one time..."
Great to hear how happy he is to be at Michigan. If he spread some of that excitement to McGary he would be a commit in no time.
When is the "signing day" for basketball? Just wondering what sort of timeline we're looking at with McGary.

Thanks to both of you.
THe more I see on this guy the more I like of him. He can do just about everything well.
His game truly is tailor made for coach B's system. He's gonna tear some sh.T up!
Kind of interesting he mentioned McGary. I remember his good friend Stefan Jankovic was close to visiting UM a month ago for that 2012 spot. Since then I haven't heard anything about him. Would have thought he would be one pulling for Jankovic. In any case, I'm excited to have Nick suiting up for UM soon.

Well, Nick better find Mitch on twitter or facebook & start recruiting.
Calling Chet...A recruit needs some subtle pushing UM's way.
The recruits all know and love Chet. And just FYI...what he does isn't creepy at all and he has persuaded many recruits to take a look at UM. And by "isn't creepy" of course I mean "extremely creepy".

Nick is not that far away from McGary, so he could probably do some damage on the recruiting trail.

Canadian Sportsnet tends to highlight Canadian ballers during the Tourney.
Watching Maine Black Bears is not quite the same.
